A Bielefelder Thread !

Ok, here is a photo of one of Bev Davis' SILVER CRELE MARANS to illustrate what the silver crele pattern should look like:

So note my babies' silver penciling on their necks...I am hopeful that I am getting (stumbling) closer to getting this beautiful coloration.

Incidently, the silver crele pattern does not look  like the canadian birds do....the canadians are much lighter, as far as I can see, not much silver but alot of white .........................................you

can see them here:         http://www.gradeehfarms.ca/bielefelder-kennhuumlhner-silber-kennsperber-silver-bielefelder.html

:fl  man, if there are any more genetics experts out there that may be able to help me, please send me a PM !
yours are closer to the German silvers than the Canadian ones are.

Well, that is what I was thinking. The color pattern is called "Silver Crele" and Bev davis is doing some wonderful work with this color...gorgeous coloration.
From here, I guess I breed back to the beil male to get the yellow skin back.(and those will be F-3s)..and then those offspring will be bred together to form the final F-4s...so I have been told...

So...I have the Silver Cuckoo Marans sports hatching every so often a white chick...so I have a mess of them growing out to breed together and these Silver Crele babies to breed together...2 new coops , please !

At least two!!!! We just put our fifth coop together this morning!!!! My husband is SO PATIENT with me!!!!

Interesting about the Gatorade. I just always did things the hard way myself...mixing raw honey with water, electrolytes and probiotics. It's what I usually give to chicks in their water the first day after hatching, and also fed to chicks I bought from Cackle Hatchery to rejuvenate them. I've also used a combination of raw honey and apple cider vinegar in the water. I guess it's the same principle.
Using the Gatorade was my desperation! I have probiotic/electrolyte powder, but didn't want to spend the time figuring out how to mix it, and I know that Gatorade works. I suddenly remembered seeing that about puppies in a post, and dug for something I had on hand! I need to find the honey/acv recipe and post it in the kitchen so I remember it. Does it work with commercial honey?

Boy 1 Boy 2 My favorite

Thoughts on my Babes? I think they are looking pretty good so far. I'm hoping to get a nice looking boy to breed the girls before he becomes tasty stew.
