A Box of Monsters

They don't take as long as possible, only as long as what is necessary. It's hard work for them, and they take breaks to rest. They also have to finish absorbing the egg yolk's sack for strength.
I'm playing chick noises to encourage them.

To be honest, I'm under my weighted blanket on the bed. I might roll off; I've been on summer break eating everything in sight.
I was just snacking on some of those Cadbury Caramello mini's, but I'm not in bed. I'm watching to see if those egg's hatch. I'll have my turn at hatching soon enough.

I am on the bed because the couch is full off Chicken stuff I've ordered over a long period of time. I kind of have a little nest going on. TV: check, cat: check, and computer check. AC is on high: Check.

You mean that those thing's are supposed to be sat on? I'm guilty of that too, but we don't really use that room, so storage work's for us. The room that we used to use for storage became my chick room where I do my hatching and brooding at. It has a door so it keep's the dog out.

Chicken math is in full swing here so it seems an appropriate time to start this thread.

We brought home our first box of monsters April 29. 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Olive Egger and a Buff Orpington. They surprised us with their charm and grace.

The beasts outgrew their brooder quickly. Before long, they were spending their days lounging in the sun.

Yes, they have their own beach towel. Mostly because it's now covered in poop.

They grew SO fast! It seemed to happen over night. One of them is obviously from a famous family.

Of course now they're almost hens and have a place of their own.

Then chicken math took hold. I received a box of monster eggs in the mail! Who knew such a thing was possible? Thankfully, I had an incubator ready to go.

A mere three days later, I was informed there was another package for me at the post office. This time, a box of live, noisy monsters had been sent. 3 Australorps, 2 Dark Brahmas and 2 Speckled Sussex.

I hope this is all of them. They are entertaining but we only have room for so many.
Looks like a handful! But, you can never have too many chickens, right?
