A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Well I thought Coco was done laying for the year....but of course she had to prove me wrong. Everytime I think she's done, another turkey egg shows up in the box lol  I wish she'd get on with molting, she desperately needs to. Big Bird never starting laying again after molting and their eggs look very different so it's easy to tell who it belongs to.

It started as a nice day, and then I spent several hours today looking for a leak in our water association's main water line. Trudging through many miles of ditches is NOT my idea of a fun Saturday activity. Sign up for a position as a water board executive they said.....it'll be easy they said....never need to do much of anything they said..... I think they lied :/ I live in the PNW - our ditches are full of cold water. Looking for a water leak in full ditches....hmmm....that is the proverbial needle in a haystack.

Hope everyone else's Saturday was more pleasant :p

Hey Feisty. Yeah, walking through ditches doesnt sound like a great Saturday. Geez!

My girls are through their molt & I can tell Daisy is thinking about laying. Annie, not so much...

Judy and the turkeys had a spat today.

We went to a chicken show about 2 1/2 hours away. I did pretty good and am happy with my birds.

On the way home we discussed ways to mark our new sidewalk so we (I) do not hit it with the snow plow. I wanted to drive stakes at the ends and on the steps., One on each side. She had a better idea....When doesn't the wife THINK she knows better?

I have some marker stakes for marking underground wires and post locations. These are the thin wires with flags on the top. maybe 2 ft or so tall. She placed two on each walk and two on the landing from the deck. She then was shoveling the deck as I was doing chicken chores..

I asked if she would help me run the turkeys into their pen....She came down the steps from the deck and started screaming!

I asked what was wrong.. She said, and I will make this G rated. Her language was not the language of a delicate woman....

"Those blank, blank blankiity blank turkeys.........."

I asked what was wrong, I thought maybe they were on the deck...NOPE.. they had pulled up every flag she had placed at the ends of the walks. They were running like crazy playing keep away with them...

You have to love turkey antics!

Boy I love watching turkeys playing.

Yesterday our two BBB toms got in another fight (everyday thing for them as they try to figure out who they belong to) our Black, Spanish Black, Black Norfolk whatever you want to call him was getting in the middle of it so I went over picked him up and started petting and talking to him, within a couple of seconds the fight had broken up and everyone was standing around my feet scratching at my pant leg and trying to get me to pay attention to them. Turkeys do get jealous ladies and gentlemen they get very jealous

Even Bellybuttons get jealous. They may not like to be held. BUT they hate it if you hold another one.

You got that right Ralphie! If i have another bird on my lap, Daisy circles my chair and if she can, she will tug on their tail feathers.

100% true! Adam is the biggest of belly buttons and can't stand to be touched or even approached but he will freak out if Romeo is getting love and attention. Speaking of Romeo, my daughter loves how he "tap dances" when he gets excited lol. She told him to tap dance the other day and he danced for almost a whole minute straight! I didn't tell her that it was because she had Cuddles all snugly in front of her!

Cute story Aurora! Good 'ole Romeo! I do love how much your kids are into the turkeys.

Funny...my chickens don't seem to be jealous of each other. When I pick one up the others seem to issue a sigh of relief it wasn't them. But my turkey hens are a different story!
