A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I think Holm's cats are nothing short of flying predator assassins. Their fluffy cuteness is a trick.

Did you just get that one back?

I processed one and sold it for Christmas and I sold one to Coffee. The one without feathers is in prison. She is a little whiner and thinks she should be free. She may never be free again. I have not decided what to do with her yet.

@MinnesotaNice the cats here are highly trained assassins. Dont let their fluff fool you!!

When my turkeys lay they lay every day. Well for the most part. It depends on how irritated they are with me that day.

Mine do the same thing. If I leave them alone they lay daily, If I bother them they skip a day or two.

Just read another post about a tom beating up two hens. Thats the final straw for me. Been contemplating another turkey & trying to decide if I want a tom. I just can't. I'd kill it if it hurt the girls. I'm sticking with hens! I know there are gentlemen toms.....but with my luck I'd get a jerk. I only have the two girls....don't think thats enough to keep a tom happy.

I sell mine to a local baker. She buys all she can from me at 3 bucks per egg. Apparently, since they are so rich, they make a huge difference in her cakes. But I love them & so does my neighbor & chicken sitter. So we all fight over them!

$3/egg? I'd be starting my own Turkey egg biz. Lol

Thats a deal. From what I understand they can go from 3 to 5 bucks each. The right chef or specialty grocery...and your in business!

Well my husband sure loves the taste of a turkey egg omelette. Might post some for sale and see if anyone is interested. We get two a day, one from each hen. I noticed something odd about the ones I cracked last night for an omelette- I think they were fertilized!! Isn't a little white ring/ spot on the yolk? If so then how is this possible? We only have a rooster no tom!

Turkeys are capable of parthenogenesis. It is really rare for the eggs to make it the whole way through to hatching. Those that do hatch will all be males.

Fertile egg images.

A white spot downer mean anything. All eggs have those but a white bullseye means fertile.

I have to admit, I haven't tried any turkey eggs yet. I've baked with them but never just cooked one to compare to chicken eggs lol
