A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I love my SS. I can totally relate. I think they are a fun breed to have. I feel they are a good choice for back yarders. User friendly and eye candy.

No eggs here yet. Thought Daisy would be laying by now. Obviously Annie needs to get through her rough molt. Poor girl.

Was talking to a friend in east Tennessee...ger flock isn't laying yet either.

I m surprised Snitch is laying she has a lot of those waxy molting type feathers on her chest and neck.

So...Snitch is going through some kind of molt?

Annie's new tail feathers are about 2-3 inches long now. Her whole neck is still nothing but those pins, but the feathers are starting to break through at the ends. She still has a ton of feathers coming in on her back & chest. She sure looks raggedy. And she's eating like a horse.

If Snitch has pin feathers poking out, I'm surprised she lets you hold her. I could be uncomfortable. Annie squeals if I touch her right now.

I've gone a whole week without any chicken eggs. Not sure why they suddenly went on strike.
Little slackers!

It was cool & breezy yesterday. But sunny. Having a turkey hand warmer in your lap sure makes sitting outside tolerable.

It is only a few on her breast and neck. Most of the feathers look normal.

We have poults! Two reds and one mottled black :) pictures later on. Out of 6 eggs, 3 hatched so far, one pipped then died, 1 is probably a late quitter and 1 Im not sure of yet.

Grats on the early birds!

Mr. T got some lapped time this weekend. He was starting to become more and more distant from me since I hadn't spent much time with him lately. Hopefully he's just being a brat about it and isn't afraid of me lol.

Thank you everyone for your great help! I have forwarded all of the responses to the owner and his verdict is to begin constructing a larger coop ASAP and adding more hens to the mix. Hopefully that will settle Brat Tom down! He really is a gorgeous turkey- all of his feathers are meticulously maintained! I don't think the owner could part with him either: it has been his favorite bird since Day 1 of turkey poults!
