A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Rjohns - Your pics all looked like hens to me. Pretty girls!

Aurora - I can totally sympathize with trying to "work" in the turkey pens.... there is such a thing as too much "help"

. I've started kicking them out and closing the door if I need to get something done quickly lol. Hope you have more turkey eggs soon (mostly because it means that we get more poult pictures soon)!

R2Elk - I love the pic of your hen and tom strutting side by side! I have never seen Big Bird do that except when she was a baby.
Beware of Turkey!!! I've been too embarrassed to mention it--but I'm recovering from a turkey peck in the eye. I was taking down the electric fence to move them to winter housing and pretty much ignoring them. One of my Narri hens pecked me on the head and like a dummy I looked up just in time for her second hit square in the eye. I now have the dubious honor of being the first Turkey Peck my opthamologist has treated in his more than 30 years of practice.

I always try to keep poultry beaks away from my eye. Of Course , that was driven into me, to protect my eyes, from the time I wanted my first Red Ryder BB gun ...

Snitch is a bad girl tonight. She is free in the pole barn. I had her on my lap and decided to take a picture of her sitting there all pretty. When she saw the camera she jumped down. The barn rooster (not Bert, the one infatuated with Snitch saw her on the floor and decided she wanted some "afternoon delight". He grabbed Snitch behind the head and went to jump on.

Snitch screamed " rape".

I went to save her and get the rooster off her. I got the rooster off and she flew up and away landing about 10 ft away and 10 feet in the air on a window I have in storage. I went to get her and she flew away again. This time going into the rafters. The pole barn is 18ft high to the rafters. (My Dad build it for the combines and big farm equipment.) She is not coming down. She just looks at me and the rooster and stay up there where she thinks she is safe. She is being a bellybutton.

Little does she know the rooster can fly up there too. I opened the door on her cage for her, but I expect her to be free tomorrow when I go check on her.

She was doing so good too. I think I should not have used the selfie mode, that seems to be what scared her.

I was wondering how you folks get your birds to "pose" Only one of my Palms will pose for the camera, the rest run. As long as I pay attention to them, the kids are great--but my hens don't like to be ignored.

Daisy likes to wander around on top of my garage. When I shake the treat can she can't fly down fast enough. Guess Snitch wasn't sure about the camera. Need to get her used to phone cameras. When she wins her first Best In Show she'll need to know how to pose for her glamour shots!

Rjohns, you just have to get them used to seeing the camera. Ya gotta sit out there with them & get them used to you hanging around. And seeing the phone. I'm worried Daisy will figure out how to use my phone. Afraid she'll start ordering herself pizzas.

Rjohns - my DH has done the getting pecked in the eyeball thing.... I have managed to avoid that dubious honor so far lol!

Ralph - Your Snitch story tonight absolutely killed me :gig. Poor girl getting molested by a rooster lol.

I can't keep Big Bird away from my ipad or iphone, she's so darn fascinated by them. She's very easy get a selfie - except that her face is usually pressed up against the camera :).

It's snowing and blowing again here - what the heck is up with this darn weather???? I have to work tomorrow and am just hoping I can get out of the darn driveway after it's done dumping overnight . My next vehicle will be 4WD, I swear!

Fiesty...I want off this weather roller coaster too. Good luck getting to work. Great selfie!

I usually get Annie's beak....she has to check out everything. Daisy just rolls her eyes when i get the phone out.

I think Snitch needs to go to a modeling school so the camera doesn't scare her. Had I left the camera on normal I am sure it would have been fine. Looking at herself scared her.

I need to get out there early today and try and catch her. Holm is coming today. Ethel Jr is moving. Mr T is going to have babies!

Feisty , Big Bird looks so spoiled in that picture. Her eyes are huge!

I am getting cats!!!!!

I will try to get pictures of Holm with his new turkeys.

LOL! Your right about Big Bird. She looks perfectly content sitting there. She's a cutie.

How exciting for Mr. T! Finally! Take pics of everything Ralph...Holm & his girls and the kittens!

Snitch is back in her cage! But not before cleaning off everything I have on a huge shelf, stirring up a ton of dust and making every other bird in the barn scream..

Thank you Snitch. I think I named her really close to what she should be called.. Just drop the SN and add another Letter there.

Oh she lost a few feathers.
