A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Its strange how we are all able to connect on BYC. My friends look at me in amazement and disbelief when I talk about my "chicken friends" globally. One of the first recommendations I make to anyone who asks about poultry is to join the BYC community. Pretty much ANYTHING you can think to ask can be answered on here.

People also look at me like I'm nuts when I two then about my friends on here lol. They have NO idea. This site is a wealth of knowledge and information (and encouragement and enabling)

There are just way too many "enablers" on here.

To help my birds get more interested in eating varmints, when I catch some, I disable them a little so they don't run away so fast. Like making them dizzy. Then they are wiggling still but the birds are more likely to pick at them.

If you want to see a frenzy, mow over a mouse nest in front of a bunch of guineas. My guineas normally don't have anything to do with me but if I have the lawnmower out the whole flock will follow me around.

I went to a treadle feeder for the chickens. Squirrels, chipmunks, rats...whatever...can't get into it and no wasted feed. The turkeys will kill a rodent. They did away with the chipmunks.

Aurora, when Annie was broody I'd wet her feed in a small dish & she thought she was getting a treat! Would pull her off the nest a few times a day & feed her mush. I swear she gained weight! They love wet feed.
