A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I keep seeing news about all the snow falling in the eastern side of the US - any of you getting piles of white stuff??

We have about a foot here. Another few inches are expected Friday. The funny part is that I have a member from down south visiting. She and her daughter were excited about one or two inches. Now her daughter is not so thrilled with the cold, but loving the snow. Mom is hating it all!

Fiesty I can't even imagine a room full of parrots! My mon had some kind of small parrot that would always sit on her shoulder & scream at us kids if we got to close to her. She could even go outside to garden & that thing wouldnt leave her shoulder. Occasionally she'd jump in the car to go somewhere & forget he/she was on her shoulder. She'd just perch the thing on her steering wheel & go do her errands. That bird loved her, but would terrorize us kids. And boy could that little bird scream!!

Morning...

I have a bad turkey. One of them ate an egg. The cold here has been cracking them open and one of them (or more) have been treating themselves to Eggsicles. Another problem to be solved. I think it could be Sidekicks fault, He is relentlessly pacing back and forth rubbing the wire of the pen the hens are in. He has to go! I know he makes them nervous, because he even makes me nervous.

I think I might have nominated someone, once. maybe. Deadlines and me do not get along so I might not have either......

Nothing I like better than eating a bloody egg, Memphis......

Lol another silly question/sentence for you all.....

If you see them mating and she doesn't lay for a couple of days. will the next egg be fertile? Or is it just a guessing game?

From what I understand a hen will produce fertile eggs for several months sfter being bred. Ralph & R2elk can correct me if I've got my facts wrong. Thats one reason most folks breeding turkeys try to get them separated into breeding pens before the breeding begins.

Sorry about the egg suckers Ralph. I dropped a chicken egg in front of my turkeys and by the time I went to get something to clean it up with they had sucked up as much as possible.
