A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I just don't want the government to have a hand in my flock. I can ship eggs to most states with NPIP equivalent. I have no plans to ship live chicks lol

Actually you can't. There are 4 states that do not require a 9-3, only a NPIP flock and hatchery can issue a 9-3.

Wyoming is the one that does not require it on the info page, but when you call the state they will tell you they do require it.

Otherwise you are limited to Alaska, New Jersey, Oregon and Tennessee. (TN has a higher standard than NPIP alone)

It is not really the government in your business, of all the contact I have had over the years NPIP is pretty mild...While the inspector wanting me to keep my turkeys and chickens separate was a PITA, I agree.

Just to prove we had ONE day (Sunday) without a torrential downpour :). It has been so wet here, and really hard to get anything done. The birds hate rain, so I shoved them all out of their covered runs on our one rain-free day and they had a blast. I pruned trees and they ran around and chased the tree cuttings as they fell. Interesting fact....ladders can sink up to the first rung if your ground is completely oversaturated

Ralph - I laughed so hard over your interaction with the sales person... I could picture DH having the same discussion with unwelcome visitors :p

R2Elk - that tomato looks amazing... jealous of your greenhouse!

I picked up zucchini and pepper plants this weekend and will stick them in the ground on the next rain-free day. I'm sure the birds will love having a supply of zucchini, I may eat one or two but they'll get the rest :). Fingers are crossed that there is sunshine eventually or I'll just have moldy zucchini leaves.

(sorry, I think of that nickname for you all the time)....

I was wondering today if you had drowned or what it seems like ages since you were on. I am glad the turks got to play in the sun.

My turkeys are extremely ill tonight. They all went in the coop on their own and stood there waiting for me to lock them in. This is not normal. I am worried.

Ralphie, I love it--but be cautious as some liberal prosecutors have successfully argued that the sign = premeditation.  I also love my neighbor's sign.  It simply states: "We don't dail 911, we call 1911"
I'm in Texas,When I grab the rifle it is most assuredly premeditated.I have every intention to kill what ever needs killing.

Ralph,I wouldn't let some government wanna be stop me,as a matter of fact I'd take it as a PERSONAL challenge. One thing I've learned over the years, when someone pushes me I respond with everything at my disposal. No one likes bad press. NO ONE LIKES GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE IN PRIVATE MATTERS. With the meticulous way you seem to do things :) I'd be willing to bet your records and documentation would support your methods. If it was me, I'd contact the local media and put my case out there. Get public opinion behind you and color them as overbearing restrictive gov.officials.
If there is any such "rule" its a shot gun approach at controlling the commercial poultry industry. They make a regulation then apply it to EVERYONE regardless of the circumstances.
