Got another question for the folks out here. What are your thoughts about crows? I had to toss a lot of eggs over the last couple weeks, so they went into compost. I've got a half dozen crows that have been following the new kids around chowing on the left over food when they move. Now they've moved into the compost pile and keep digging up the eggs. They don't seem to be hurting anything, other than giving me an extra chore and they don't get close enough to the babies to give them bugs. Should I leave them be or motivate them to move on?

Crows dont let hawks hang around, encourage the crows to stick around

crows hate hawks and drive them away.... may take an egg once in a while as payment though

I grew up in the woods. To this day I have never found a crows nest.

mine are in the biggest bull pines they can find, they are often mistaken for squirrel nests because they use a lot of sticks and leaves to make them

I throw eggs on my compost pile just for the crows, I know they will get them before a 4 legged critter does.

These are eggs that are cracked or to long in the incubator. Crows snatch them within an hour of me throwing the.. I love my crows!

That could be part of the problem there are very few bull pines/seed pines left anymore. Logging companies don't leave them like they used to. The taller pines around here are occupied by red tail,or red shoulder hawks. About a month ago I saw a coopers hawk. Haven't seen one of them around here in over 30yrs

Crows are super good at facial recognition. They can identify the friendlies and the bad guys and successfully pass that information to their families

I very seldom mess with them Ralph.
If they start acting like its a buffet everyday I shut em down. Catfish eat anything

Great info... I'll keep the crows around as I have two Sharp-shinned Hawks, Red tail and shoulder hawks living on the property. I didn't connect the dots that they moved on when the crows moved in. A few cracked eggs for services rendered is worthwhile. The sharp shinned got one of my baby del's last fall...

Instead of crows, I have magpies. There are three pairs of them, and they act very much like crows.
