A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I have a lot of live traps (and guns) Every now and again I will set the traps and catch 2 or 3 coons at a time.
I then relocate them to a place with lots of chickens. The owner and myself have an extreme dislike of one another.
and he probably brings his to you LOL

The turkeys have finally started grazing in the field I planted for them. There was a trio of sandhill cranes on the far end of the field (most likely bringing death and disease to my flock) stupid birds! The turkeys saw them and went to greet them turkey style. They all mingled together (spreading bird STD's I am afraid). The cranes left and the turkeys continued to graze. This was 2 days ago.

Yesterday, they went there on their own to graze. It is almost 1/4 mile from their coop, but I like them grazing, I just wish they would graze the close end of the field and not the far end....

Once grazing was over they came back to the buildings to follow me like good little feathered dogs do. It is so fun having a flock of turkeys doing everything with me. I wear a large brimmed straw hat to cut down on sunburn. It blew off in the wind. Everything was fine with it lying on the ground until one hen saw it and sounded the alarm. The turkeys made a semi-circle around the hat and started clucking, chirping and discussing the evil thing on the ground. This went on for a good 10 minutes. They would stretch out their necks, take a step towards it then run back. It was so funny I stopped working and sat to watch the show. I spend a large part of my day "watching the shows".

This was after the excitement had passed for most of them, but you get the idea..

When I decided to sit and just watch the grass grow they decided to help then too..

Right in the heart of Memphis!

Nice! I am a Tennessean by conception. LOL Both of my parents were born and grew up in the Knoxville and Sevierville area. I may have been born in MD but definitely started in TN. In fact, 90% of my relatives live in TN and my 9 year old grandson's middle name is Tennessee. My daughter said there were just too many relatives to pick a name and I told her I figured the name of the State would cover all of them!!
:lau:lau:lau

Yippee, another Tennessean! I'm originally from St. Louis. But have now lived here longer. Memphis freaked me out at first. Now I truly enjoy its gritty quirkiness. Especially its music history. Sat next to Robert Plant at a joint one night. Same with George Thurogood & Cyndi Lauiper. Al Green lives less than a mile away. Met most of the local blues guys ( most gone now) like Bobby Blue Bland, Rufus Thomas, Little Milton...and of course BB King. Oh the musical history here is amazing!
