A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Poor Ethel Jr was hiding with her hound in some down trees last night during lock up and we didn't notice she was gone and something got her.... I feel terrible about this... She was such a good mom... Even though she flew into my shoulders and started attacking me... I sure will miss her...

It seems silly to me to have to keep the conversations just to turkeys. You make friends and learn about each others' lives AND talk turkey. Seems to me that if other people didn't like it, they would just go to a different thread or start their own thread. I guess I just don't understand.
Now, for my turkey question ( gotta keep on topic, LOL) do any of you do anything to help keep down the mud or keep your white turkeys white? Or do you just not worry about it? My 3 whites seem like they are always muddy looking. They probably don't care, but I think it makes them look "uncared for".

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I've had that happen with my chickens, not noticing that one or two of them didn't go in for the night and then loosing them to predators. It stinks and makes you feel bad as well. I'm sure you, as well as the rest of us, always do the best that you can. Unfortunately, it sometimes just isn't good enough.

Holm, I'm so sorry. She was a cool turkey, great mom, and funny that you apparently insulted her & she never let you forget!!
This is a fun thread...turkey folks can find others of like kind. And some of us that have been around awhile really enjoy the chatter, I agree, we can get a bit off topic but I never thought we ranged that far off as to warrant complaints.
AND speaking of turkeys, I've been up in Ste. Genevieve MO since Thursday (where its currently a balmy 63). So I've been working in the gardens and boy do I miss my turkey helpers!! My little bug and weed eaters! The big deal, sitting on the porch last night, was lack of turkey mosquito protection! Sure missed Daisy picking off those mosquitoes! Sure miss my girls.

I don't even try lol. Once the mud dries up, they give themselves a good dust bath and clean themselves up lol

Baby update:
Last night, the baby kept going back and forth between looking like it was dying to looking ok so I just blended up a scrambled egg with some water and a couple drops of vitamins. I used an eye dropper and filled that little ones crop up. This morning, the only reason I know which one it is, is because it's the smallest in there. She's running around with everyone, no problem! She better stay that way now lol

Aurora....great news! Hope she's fully recovered.
Karenerwin....I agree with Aurora. Mine stay shinny & bright with their dust baths. I spilt coffee on Daisys tail feathers. 2 weeks later I could still see the stains. I did wash her tail.
