A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I think that's why I enjoy my turkeys so much...they are playful & have a sense of humor. Which seems to be lacking in my (much pampered) chickens. My chickens are solely food motivated. My turkeys just want attention...treats or no treats.
And Ralphie....sure hope you start feeling better soon. I was so frustrated last year with my crushed arm....million things I couldn't do.

Poor Ethel Jr was hiding with her hound in some down trees last night during lock up and we didn't notice she was gone and something got her.... I feel terrible about this... She was such a good mom... Even though she flew into my shoulders and started attacking me... I sure will miss her...
:hugs sorry

And, get home from church , and the baby is dead, laying in the water dish. I can't win. I'm very thankful though that I still have all the special ones.
i read the first update and was all like 'HOORAY!!' and i keep reading and now i am so sorry :hugs stupid birds :(

and pretty birds! i love the color of your hen!

Tell me about it, I have been really down because of the surgery and sickness. Yesterday I found I was 96 birds down in one pen by predators in last few days..I have not been able to feed them myself so I did not notice is as fast as I would have and my hired help just is in a dream world and has no idea about these things.
wow :hugs thats quite a few to be down :hugs

So....Daisy took a dust bath, didn't shake off, then proceeded to stand on the arm of my chair to preen. Gee, thanks bird....

Ouch! That's a lot to lose. I hope someone there can work out away to secure the rest so you don't keep losing birds. I hope you are feeling better soon!

MM..

BAD News..

I just candled a my eggs. I could not see a sign of life in any one of my turkey eggs....

I am hoping it is just too early to see anything....

Major depression could set in over this!

I marked the air sacs so I can see in a week if anything is happening...

My creamette eggs are al hatching as of today.
:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Thanks,, I am getting better everyday. I actually am doing a little work now,,,,BUT don't tell the Doc..He thinks I am not lifting over 10 pounds still....\

Snitch is one unhappy Turkey. She had moved back into the pole barn, after killing her babies (two attempts, two dead babies).... She thinks I will give her a third to kill...She is wrong..

I moved her into the showbirds Pullet pen. She is not a happy camper.... She is all alone in there right now, Holm is coming down to pick up some birds and equipment and help me sort and move birds soon. Then she will have company. Unless I move her to solitary and start lapper training again.

It's easy to do on the new format. Kathy I've seen that video. It amazes me, considering how delicate poults can be, that they survive!

Ralph, any idea of what happened to all the birds? It's so weird that many could disappear without any predator hints.
