A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I'm actually doing the RBs a week early as they are conflicting with the bees and they have been leading the charge to knock down the fence and leave the pasture. They are also my most affectionate birds, so yes it will be hard. I hate processing—but I'm glad its me and I'm doing the best I can to make it as pain free as possible.

I hear ya!

I'm listening to them from the deck and laughing Guess the whole do it after dark thing did not work out so well.

Hahahah! Tonight we went to put everyone to bed. Roadrunner was nowhere to be seen...told hubby start lookin up in the trees. the lil shit was up in a tree above their home bout twenty foot off the ground happy as could be. I swear we heard her singin na na na na boo boo cant catch me now you suckers! Earlier cletis was havin heself a jolly ole fit... guess that is why. I am gonna go see if she came down before i go to bed. Cause tonight of all nights i really dont want her out. There have been coyotes super close the last few nights then from today we are sure they will be nosin round the yard. :/. We were kinda surprised that she was up there and away from her cletis. Usually they are tight at the hip all the time. Tomorrow she will be gettin a feather trim.

Coyotes are super close howling up a storm tonight as well... can hear two yapping back and forth and one was super close to us. Had to make sure the turkeys were all padlocked up.

Definitely looking into LGD's for when we get our breeding hogs so don't lose all the babies...

Coyote can sure make a lot of racket! Tonight when I brought the dogs in I heard two Great Horned Owls talking back and forth. Just had to stop & listen to them. Its their mating season, so they've been vocal lately.

Are you sure you are t in our neck of the woods? :). The owls have been singin here too.

I just tagged this to tag you and because I am too lazy to do the @thingy...

I think you should reconsider clipping the Juvenile delinquent wings. I know what a pain teens in a tree can be. BUT those same wings are what will keep him safe from a coyote in the day. To be totally honest no one has more bedtime problems than I do, but a teen in the tree is a lot safer than most of us think. Nothing can really get them other than a coon. Turkeys seem to have better night vision than chickens so it would be hard for a coon even. The Birds of prey tend to go for smaller easier prey than a nearly grown turkey.

I have only lost one full grown turkey to a predator and that was a hen that tried to save her babies. She survived the initial attack and saved a couple of her babies. She died a week or two later from infection. I think had it happened now I would save her with better medical care.

When the wings are clipped that turkey is a sitting dux...

My 2 cents.
