A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I started it from the top of another pineapple. It would spend the winter in the house and the summer either outside or in the greenhouse. It got so big that I could not see the TV through it so I gave it to some folks that were going to take it to Alabama with them.

It only bloomed once for me but since it grew multiple new stalks I don't know why it would not bloom again.

When you started yours did it work puttin it in water til you got rootlets? I tried for years to get one doin it like that and they always rotted. Then i just dunked the top in the ground and no problems. I have four in my green house right now. :).

Hey just wondering what the thick vein or blood line means in an egg. I’ve seen movement in several of them now but there are a few I’m not sure about. They have some veins but also a very prominent line
Don’t have any pics but will get some tomorrow.

If I am ever not sure, I wait a few days and candle again. Good veining usually means all is well, sometimes it seems like the embryo hides. I don't have a ton of experience though.

My broody chicken was of her nest the other day, all day. Her eggs were totally cold when I got home. I placed her back on the correct nest, and all was well. Monday, the same thing happened. Checked the eggs last night, and all were good except one. Amazing!!

I always pulled the leaves to expose a large area and suspended in water in a dark corner until the roots were developing. With the new procedures of whatever they are doing to preserve foods, it can be extremely difficult to get anything store bought to grow. I always planted store bought potatoes but now it can take six months before store bought potatoes will eye.

Does the thick bloodline go around the entire circumference of the egg??

That may be a blood ring and usually means the embryo died shortly after it started to form.

You all that are getting eggs very jealous.

My girls are on egg laying vacation. Lol

Just eating and loafing

I did the same thing and the water rootin never worked for me. I do pull it down the same way now still and just put em in the dirt.

Unless, you don't want them to sprout. Then they sprout over night!

I think the potatoes are taught to read minds and do the opposite of what I want. If I buy huge bakers to plant. They never eye. If I buy them to eat this time of year. They sprout immediately!:barnie

I either buy seed potatoes or save potatoes from my garden to plant next spring. I have not had any store bought potatoes sprout in less than six months irregardless of time of year purchased. It has been like this for at least 10 years but I believe it has been longer.

I wonder if that is a product of where we live. I am in the heart of Potato country here. Within 10 miles of me is multiple huge potato farms. They love the sand for the potatoes. I doubt any our treated. I know if I buy an Idaho potato they do not sprout. BUT finding an Idaho potato around here is hard to do, and they cost more.

If you are buying local produce they most likely are not treated.
