A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I laughed as i read your ladies saga while i was sittin by the mister drinkin coffees.... he spit coffees on his uhm six pack... :oops:yea six pack:gig... and his spy pad. He was amused but not. Oops. He asked. :idunno

Now he is off to manipulate/manhandle/throw things at his new chicken wagon extroidinaire some more at his shop cause he gots meaties comin next week so it must be finished.... cause i am NOT havin 75 :jumpy in my house! I think i will go amuse meselfs with my fat pregnant goat gracie that i am for positive is gonna hold those babies in another tenlebenty years or so and the toddler goats for a while just to hear his rantin.... cause nothin has gone his way so far today. His shop is within hearin not throwin distance of the goats and turkeys. Does this make me a bad human? :idunno:plbb. I DID ask did he need me help him. :thumbsup But he turned me down :yesss:.

And. I have oficially renamed buster brown as thanksgivin! I truly do not like this turd bird. :he. And this week when we process rabbits... that jerkface dolt roo is goin as well! He got me good yesterday with his spurs to my knee but i also got him back.. I got a shovel and gently tapped him.... oh bout ten footish. Funny thing that shovel. Had a mind of its own it did. :idunno
I have found that no chicken Cock, or Turkey like water sprayed at their head.It will calm a strutting turkey down for a moment. None of my birds want to tangle with me.:)

Thanksgivin does the two step when we turn round.. If there is a stick in hand he doesnt even two step when we turn round but i refuse to keep a dang stick in my hand while tryin do chores in there or visitin the goats. And the goats bein social is a must cause soon i will be milkin one in there. As long as we are walkin round doin chores or whatever he watches but doesnt come near. I just started lockin him in the closed part when i am workin in there. He must not like hineys i guess.

I have a Tom that likes smashing eggs!
I had a Bourbon Red tom that would hunt down the turkey nests and stomp every egg in them. He was doing his best to keep his hens in breeding mode. The neighbor said he was delicious.

If a person has a particular spot that the hens use to lay in, you can build a cage around the area and make the opening just big enough for the hens to come and go but small enough that the toms cannot get through the opening.

Sometimes eggs get broken because a tom takes the hen sitting on the nest as permission to breed. When the hen does not cooperate, the tom slips off and eggs get broke. That is also a time when hens can get injured.

Sfgwife...Aurora has some sweet Tom's! Romeo especially!

Finally home. Daisy on my lap. All is right in the world. Both hens have facial bites & bruising. Dang it! They must have really gone at it in my absence. No wonder their sitter was freaking out. Oh...and the owl is back. Guess the romance in another yard didn't work out. Went over to talk to it .... it fluffed up at me. And stretched each wing out. Well...its good to be home...

The owl dug it's way out of the hole?

Are you sure you dug it deep enough?

Is it a Zombie Owl now?

And it's hooting it's beak off out there! Love lorn owl. Poor guy.

Cleaned my turkey girls faces off. They were a mess. I'm so disappointed in their behavior. My turkey sitter is still freaked out. Ran out as soon as I got home. They were both exhausted. Sat down on the back steps. One sat on either side. No fighting...just being pitiful. I washed their peck wounds. They let me. They calmly went to roost. Hoping the they've settled it!

A few of the girls showing off their new saddles :)

Gqf cabinets. A 1202 and 1502. Also a 1250 hatcher haven't used it yet. All used 1502 was 450. 1202 and 1250 were 150.

Have a brinsea 20 incubated good just needed more space than just 20 eggs. At time almost 400.

1588 genesis styro but holds temp and humidity well. Used 125.

Now if my hens will start laying steady enough to fill them up.
I own 2, 1202's, 1 1502, and 2 Dickey's. I don't see much difference really. Buy the one you can get used and play with it until it holds solid temps. If you want to buy new, get a Dickey, they are way better "bang for the buck".
