A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Just got a report from my turkey sitter. Her text read: " Your turkeys are killing each other". Seems they are having the annual egg laying spat. I'll be home tomorrow. Last trip to Montana!! Yipee! Although, I must say, it's very pretty here in Missoula.

I like ducks and geese, just not what they do to water sources!

That's why I like my muscovies. They're more interested in free ranging than swimming. The geese on the other hand...they follow me around, BEGGING me to refill their pool, give them another bucket of water, fill the water dishes...

That's a nice text to get while you're away lol. At least you know what's going on. They're going to be so happy to see you when you get back!

What incubators do you guys use for turkey eggs? Preferably with turning and all that jazz but not one of the $500+ ones since that’s a lot of poults to sell!

Since I got mine second hand, it doesn't count as one of those $500+ ones right? Lol. I use a GQF 1202 cabinet. That thing is steady as a rock. I love it! I use a GQF hova bator 2362E to hatch in every week. Also very steady :)

I had the chance to borrow a brinsea once, I hated it lol. It did incubate well but I didn't like the rocking and the way the eggs are situated in it. It was awkward to place in my normal incubating spot, needed 2 outlets and was a pain clean after hatch. Just my opinion on it of course. I'm GQF all the way lol

If you can find an older cabinet incubator, it is well worth it. The main thing to remember is that if you buy a cheap incubator, you will end up buying more incubators. It is best to save your money until you can afford the best incubator that you can get. If you get lucky and find a good used incubator while you are saving, go for it.

Yes I have an old GQF cabinet incubator also. Mine is old because I bought it nearly 30 years ago. At least for me, the air flow in the old cabinet incubators works better than the air flow in the new ones.

I was being snarky on my answer, hard to believe, isn't it.

I bought mine all used, they ran about $400 apiece. However, I then had to add the humidity system which was way too much money for what it actually is. I then replaced the wafers with an electronic thermostats. Oh, and they did not come with the egg racks or all the trays needed. So yep, I am back to $500....

I had 4 of them, I am now down to 2.

I also own 4 foamies with turners. I agree with R2LK on save up for a real one. The 4 foamies and the turners combined would have paid for one good incubator.

Gqf cabinets. A 1202 and 1502. Also a 1250 hatcher haven't used it yet. All used 1502 was 450. 1202 and 1250 were 150.

Have a brinsea 20 incubated good just needed more space than just 20 eggs. At time almost 400.

1588 genesis styro but holds temp and humidity well. Used 125.

Now if my hens will start laying steady enough to fill them up.
