A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

@rjohns39 good luck on your tom and possible pair transaction.

Just candled my test run of turkey and chicken eggs in the incubator.
All but 1 clear are showing good veining and development. So my toms and roos are taking care of business.
Turkey hens are starting to get a little more steady on egg laying. But still sporadic. I'm guessing weather is biggest factor. The sun is becoming a faint memory as it is rare to see it out with no clouds.

Hit 70 deg. Yesterday. But gonna have a low of 18 tonight with 15 to 20 mph winds.

Snowed all day. Yesterday it snowed all day. Wednesday it snowed. It's shin deep, again. But it's supposed to be 60 next week..................

Maybe it will all melt away next week for you.

Winter just won't let go this year. I hope forecasters are wrong but calling for snow up to a few inches and freezing rain for Sunday.

But seeing almost 70 on thursday.

I'm now down to 1 turkey hen. I had to butcher the other one. I came home from a few days in Arizona (my hubby was chicken & turkey sitting) and discovered that one of the turkey hens had prolapsed.:he So she got butchered today. So I have 1 tom & 1 hen. The tom is a broadbreasted white and the hen is a bronze. The tom tries to do his duty but he doesn't seem to have very good aim. :lau At least none of the eggs appear to be fertile.

I'm new to turkeys... I was told i could have full blooded red are full blooded blue slate... Are cross breed of both. Any one of pictures of these 2 types as cross breed...

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us:ya

I'll defer to our breed experts on your question as they are much better at it than I am, but I sense you'll be visiting porter's site soon..

Crossing a Blue Slate and a Bourbon Red can result in two different outcomes. You can get either Rusty Blacks or Rusty Slates. They can be seen here or on Porter's Phenotypes and Genotypes page.

Thsnk you so much... One looks more red then the others... They others have dark specks on there head and light color else where... This not the best picture but you can see the darker one on the middle
