So my blue australorp chick is doing well and pigging out.

Got 25 freedom ranger chicks today to try out in our chicken tractor.

Sooo now I’m at 37 chickens and 5 turkeys. 3 goats coming Saturday :) Weather is nice for once so haven’t been online much. Busy busy spring!

Question on turkey egg incubation: haven’t really candled them yet but my humidity wants to stay at 30% as is... if I add any water it jumps to 45% or higher so I haven’t really been adding any. I assume if I keep an eye on air pockets they should be fine? Hoping they’re developing in there!!!

Glad the little austrolorp is doing good now!
The turkey eggs should be just fine at 30%. Honestly, mine usualy trails a little below that lol. I wouldn't candle them until at least 2 weeks in though. Hope you have a great hatch!
 
I decided to hold my candling light up to the side of a few without handling anything extra (had to open to move 2 that rolled off the tracks). This is one week in. Even a few of the old eggs I checked look to be developing! Had maybe a handful that looked possibly not fertile or just too speckled to see this early on.

Anyone have pictures or links on what my 7-10 day old incubating turkey eggs should look like? I did remove one that had a red ring and no veins or movement but any other semi questionable ones (like I can’t see veining as well) I left because they are also darker shells... trying not to over disturb them but also don’t want any rotten eggs exploding!
 
Pebbles is not happy :( I figured it's been long enough and I needed the little pen that she and Mary were sharing with the baby so they've been evicted. Since she's not a very protective mom, I gave her baby to my broody SPR hen who has 2 other babies the same age. She was happy to accept him. He's still learning how to follow a chicken instead of a turkey. Poor Pebbles though, she's in there crying and searching. I know she'll get over it in a day or so but it's heartbreaking. Mary on the other hand is already over it, has squatted twice for Tommy and has re-established her position in the pecking order lol
