I am afraid the Vet gave you bad advice.

I would never stick any kind of needle into a birds sinuses. They really do not have straight passages to get a needle through.

Also the chances of doing it even if you practiced on a "skull" for years and not injuring the bird is one in a million. On a life bird and young one it would be even harder.

I am not saying this to be hard on you. I just would never use a vet, that gave me that advice, ever again.

Along with running the risk of breaking membranes and bones or starting a bleed that will cause them misery and could be fatal. Introducing infection is a real possibility.

Do you have any oral antibiotics available to use on them?

I am not a VET!!!

but if they were mine I would start them on that, and run it for a full two weeks if they are not better then I would put them down.

During this time I would keep them isolated from other birds. (maybe for a month even) By isolated I mean a whole different building. I understand not everyone has the luxury of having as many buildings as I do.

I received a really bad case of stink eye today from one of my hens.

I have two hens in each pen with a Tom. I have been taking the eggs (one the first day then 2 the next then one and so on).

I had two egg in there yesterday, I took them I have not bothered to put a fake egg in the nest yet.. Today the egg was laid on top the snow under their roost. (yes, they are stupid and refuse to sleep in the coop at night.)

When I reached down and picked up the egg, I got the stink eye...I could even read her little mind,,,,,

it said " you're the child of an unmarried royal male and a commoner woman that has been stealing my eggs! you better watch out, I am on to you"....

She did not look happy today,
