Two little soggy poults resting up and drying off!

After 12-18 hours can I open the incubator very quickly to get any dried off hatched ones or is turkey lockdown a leave em be for 2-3 days? Seems like it’ll get very crowded soon!
Leave them, they can stay in there for a couple days..living off their yolks..open it and you risk others heat shrinking.

Polarberry congrats on the new poults.

Had one out tonight when I got home had not moved to Hatcher just a surprise.

My turkey hatching is kicking my backside. Lots of late deaths. Get internal pip and get no farther. External pip and gooey. Or Manage to hatch and have failure to thrive. These are a few of the first eggs I set. Don't if the weather we were having during the time has anything to do with it freezing to 80 and back again for days. No real spring. I have 3 in my brooder as of right now. 6 just went to lockdown tonight.

But quail, chicken and chukars I'm getting almost 90 percent hatch rate. Mind boggling.

Thanks, wishing you luck! I have 6 out of eggs, several more pipping. Had 27 showing signs of life shortly before lockdown. One is attempting to pip on the wrong end so there’s probably something wrong with that poult. Hopefully the other 20 hatch successfully tomorrow!

I may have to remove some/some shells tomorrow depending on how many hatch. One of the poults that hatched first is pecking the other chicks. Probably more exploratory but still... I have a brooder tub at the ready regardless. Just didn’t want to harm 20 potential babies to take out 6.

Oh and I did video record one going from pip to head out of shell (took about 25 minutes).

This one looks like s/he needs their morning coffee

I have never (knocking on wood) been speared by a Tom like I have by roosters. The Tom's seem to hit with their chests more than their spurs/legs.

I remember years a few years ago watching JJ and a rooster fight. It was so funny as the rooster would try to spur and JJ tried to fly up and hit the rooster with his chest. Basically they never touched each other. But the fight was fun to watch.

This merkface came at me feet first.. Not sure where he learned his karate kid move but boy did he learn it well. Lol!

Oh! When we went to put everyone abed tonight... jerkface was in the wrong stall and would not move even when the food bowl hit the ground.... evidentally four poults had escaped from alcatraz.... and he was SITTIN PRETTY on four lil poults playin maman hen. Eesh! He was probably laughin his jerkface arse off thinkin that mght save him.

Congrats PolarBarry! Feedman...I'll bet it's been this wacky weather.

Friend sent me a You Tube video. "Chicken Shaming". Too, too funny!
