The breed is simple, they all belong to the breed Turkey. As far as the varieties, there are no Royal Palms in any of your pictures. Royal Palms are only black and white without any other colors. In the first picture the tom almost looks like a Black Winged Narragansett but in the later picture it just looks like some kind of Tri-Color Palm. The dark hen is some variation of Bronze but is definitely not a pure bronze. The gray hen appears to be a Blue Slate.I just traded 7 chickens for a quad of turkeys!View attachment 1408517 View attachment 1408517View attachment 1408522 View attachment 1408520 View attachment 1408521 one Tom and three hens
The lady said that she bought the tom and the darker hen as a pair at a local swap and they called them royal palms..... I am not as knowledgeable as most of the folks on here but they look too dark to be palms... the two lighter hens she got from the heritage bin. I hoping someone can chime in with breeds??
Thank you for the response..... I may never know what they are, but that's ok. All three hens seem small next to the ones that I raised. The breed is simple, they all belong to the breed Turkey. Just for you Ralphie. Went out to the ranch yesterday, and I know you wanted to see it. This is the peak of green out there. It only turns brown from here.
Thanks.
I love the old place! I hope to get out there "someday".
Lucky I caught it, I have been so busy I just skipped a ton of pages on all the threads I visit.
Aurora Sorry to here pirate passed. Beware if you get this high humidity heat I have been having as more may pass. I am losing way too many birds. Only chickens so far, but I worry about the good birds too (turkeys).
I have a hatch next weekend of turkeys. After dropping the temp on my inkbird controller by a degree, it appears I am having better luck. For some reason it was allowing the temps to creep up in the incubator, I think killing the embryos. I never caught it over 102. But over 101 for a prolonged period can be bad.
Bellybutton got to stay outside on whatever he was roosting on last night. We got home too late to go on a bellybutton hunt. The bad thing is this will embolden him and he will become a bigger bellybutton at bed time.
