A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hot here last few days. So far the turkeys are doing ok.

The older chickens are not. I lost 4 yesterday. I am not sure of official temps but my thermometer read 97 at 5pm.

Also my bellybutton is bothering me. He insists on roosting somewhere "new" every night. Which means we have to go find him.....not hard to do we gobble and he answers.... (no one said he was bright).......

Then we have to walk up to him and tell him to head to bed...He jumps down walks towards and into the coop/run grumbling and witching the whole way...I am sure he is still flipping us off in Turkey gestures. If it was not such a PITA to run him in every night, it could be funny.

That is an awesome hoop coop! I noticed too... I found this on You-tube "P Allan Smith builds turkey house", anyone care to critique? (I know all on here have a lot of turkey experience).
I need a real turkey house where they can roost.
umm that looks too intricate... but it would work... he likes fancy stuff that I can only dream of affording:oops:

Our silly lil poults. We have eleven now that seem like they are good to go. Road runner only wants be a mom under her conditions... ie.. when the feed bowl is not down and at bedtime mostly. The sg is maman all the time plus the sister and the rp are mamans to them too. Of a mornin everyone comes out and goes bug huntin and there are four mamans in the corners that keep the poults in a rectangle and if one strays that corner maman lets them know it is not ok amd to get back in line. Lol! Then they go for baths, play, sparrin, and roostin time in the trees and sg is maman. At evenin feedin time mamans take turns eatin and talkin to the poults in a group. Sg scolds the rp for tryin tend the poults and both of them chase and scold the tuck dog when he gets in the pen. After everyone has had their fill of feed then they take to the evenin bugs and corners again. And now the mamans have moved back into the turkey stall with the poults for sleepin but the babies are all by and under rr and the sg for sleepin. I love my mornin amd evenin chores up there. Of a mornin i see and hear it all while in the quiet milkin my gracie goat and of an evenin i sit and watch cause i have to lock the goats up while everyone eats so the goats dont get in the turk feed. Life is good on this farm!

Came home from a long day out and Pirate is still hanging in there. It looked like she's was having convulsions but I think she was sleeping or dreaming and had shavings stuck in her mouth. I'm going to blend up a couple eggs with vitamins and molasses to feed her and hope it helps. I've been doing Epsom salt flushes to her system and I'm still hoping that there's a way she can make it back from this.

42 more eggs in my incubator. Per suggestion of someone here I’m giving a “dry run” a shot because it looked like many close to hatch possibly drowned. Ambient humidity right now without adding water is still 29%. I already have people interested in poults again... someone I spoke to earlier today said she wants any unspoken for ones I hatch out. So hopefully have lots and can consider my incubator paid off and save up for a nice cabinet one, haha.
