A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Well, I found the snow. It’s all piled up in front of each and every entrance to my poultry yard. Well, it was. I shoveled it out and it looks like I’ll get to do it again. :gigThis picture totally fails to do it justice. Notice the handles of the wheelbarrow. It was sitting on a foot & a half of snow already, poor thing. The orange things are flagging tape, blowing hard.

I didn’t see the cows so I got all bundled up to go looking for them. They were in the barn, laying down. Obviously I inspired them, because after I gave them treats they came out and started climbing in the feeder. :rant

I’m not gonna worry about it. Seriously. The poor weather Chanel guy in Rapid City, trying to make it look like they got a lot of snow. :lau He should come here... only he couldn’t do it if he wanted to. It doesn’t show well on camera, I gotta admit. It’s much more impressive in person. I-90 is closed, so I’m sure they’re not as good as they look in the pictures.

Anyway our power didn’t go out yet:celebrate :fl More surprising, we still have internet and satellite TV. I didn’t actually give the chickens any food since I left it in the coop last night and they hadn’t finished it and I was worried about the cows. Soooo I gotta do that. No big rush, though. The wind is still blowing hard and harder, then hard again. I am a happy girl. Not a major blizzard for us, even if they did give it a name.
Names are important to tv weatherdorks.

I went out and liberated my main flock. The automatic door opened like always, but the snowdrift in front of it made the birds sad.

They are much happier now. In fact they decided to show their appreciation by flying straight at my head and jumping in front of me trying to trip me. One even rode around on my shoulder while I was scooping more snow out of the way.
I'm choosing to believe it was affection rather than a plot to kill me and harvest my organs.

I’m leaving the chicken shack door closed. Wind is from the north, but the drifts form on the south sides of our buildings and that’s where the doors are... not demure little chicken doors, mind; sliding shed doors because it’s an ex-toolshed. I’m planning a fix for when/if the white goes away. Sooo, don’t want their house full of snowdrifts. Lights on, doors shut. They’ve got a lot of room, tho. And I poured out a whole new bag of pine chips for them to play with. :p

Sun is out! Storms have moved on. Currently 73, but temps dropping to the 50's tonight. I'm so sick of this weather.
Let the girls out. Daisy danced & flew around the yard. A happy bird. Annie stayed by me chattering the whole time. Its mushy out....but they could care less. I expect some sunbathing in their near future. They love to sprawl out in the sun. Just relieved to get over these storms!!
