A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Girls were crying....so they are loose. Working from home today so I can get them undercover before the storms move in. I can't resist them when they whine & cry. Admittedly they have me wrapped around their toes. It's almost 70 here. Going to be close to 80. Doesn't bode well for the incoming storms.

From age 10 to 45 I needed glasses to see my feet. The DR told me that there would be a time that I didn't need glasses at all... and then I would need them to see up close... she was right... after wearing glass all those years i would think it would be easier to retrain to wear them again.... not

I need glasses to see up close. I have always had excellent vision, better than 20/20. But with age I found I needed the readers.

I had glasses to correct me back to 20/10, but I have gotten use to being less than 20/10 with time. There was a time I wore those when flying or driving at night. They were useful when performing an instrument approach. I would strain too hard to make out the runway or lights before the decision point, the glasses helped with that. I do have a slight astigmatism but have gotten use to seeing the light rays, the glasses also helped with that at night.

My wife is like @Auroradream26 she needs glasses to see anything 2 feet away. BUT she can take off her glasses and see closeup better than I can, of course, she has to hold what ever she is looking at 4 inches from her eyes..

Take them shopping, buy them a treat, they will be happy...

Aurora...beautiful sunrise! And your kids are cool! Glad the penciled poults will be spared!
R2elk...yuck! How much snow are you getting?
Cindy...good luck!
Ralphie....what a bummer!
10 1/2" the last I checked. It is hard to measure since there ar 2' drifts and places where the snow has blown completely off. The snow is coming in sideways at this time.

Ohmygoodness R2, I am sorry... “maybe it’s all going to blow itself out before it gets to us...” she whispered very softly lest the weather gods hear and be displeased at her selfishness.

I thought it had started earlier. It was supposed to start at 5 am, but we got maybe 10 minutes, then nada. Oops! Me and my b-i-g mouth. Snowing again. Seriously. I think it started while I was writing that little silliness above, and what does THAT tell you?

This is coming from the east so I was blaming you and Ralphie for being such sharing people.

Really? I suppose it could be, like, swirling around... Our wind is NNW. Of course our wind is heavily influenced by topography so I guess that’s not all that significant.

Holy Smokes! It IS coming from the east... or the south. (I hate southern blizzards... they’re the worst.) https://radar.weather.gov/Conus/index_loop.php
Click on the link. It explains everything. Texas! Texas is sending this our way. Bad Texas! :rant:p

I am a sharing person, when it comes to snow, may it all continue to move west!..

We have rain now, it is 42 degrees. I having procrastinated too long am headed to the apple trees to get some scions. I am afraid another couple warm days and they maybe foolish enough to think it is spring. I am pretty sure I am safe still, I checked a couple sap buckets and nothing in them.

We have snow in the forecast for tomorrow night. The rain has really packed the snow down, it is only about 4 ft deep now!

That is ugly. That is a low centered it appears around the panhandle sucking moisture from the gulf up with it.

This one could be scary for us even. While the wind is coming from the E or E/NE for you it is because you are on the back side of the low. (lows flow counterclockwise)... We are on the leading edge so ours is from the SE. Without looking at full charts, and knowing the westerlies are the prevailing winds here the system will move east.(I hope)

So, being as selfish as Memphis is, I hope the low slips south or weakens. A high pressure moves in from the NW... or it stays above freezing. This pattern can bring a heck of a lot of snow with it.................reducing my chances to enjoy the weekend....

No charge for all that, with the disclaimer I can be as wrong as the weatherdorks.

Now to clean my squirrel for Judy's supper..then out to the apple trees...
