A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So I'm just hanging around waiting for the storms to move in. Accompanied by damaging 50 mph winds and 3 inches of rain. So annoying.
R2elk...saw on the national news that the great state of Wyoming is expecting a blizzard. Does that include you?

Well so much for my Daily Weather Whining. Went to let the girls know the weather will be violent & to hang onto their roosts. Not happy hens...
I'm whining too. I am so tired of the storms this year and the winds coming with this one are pretty depressing. I just keep telling myself, this too shall pass, but it's getting old.

It's 30 here now but by afternoon it's going to be in the 50's! YAY! I may stall just a little longer before going out to feed the flock lol. It's going to be beautiful today too. Rain is coming in tomorrow and Friday but it'll still be warm, in the 60's. Of course, by Friday night/Saturday morning we're back to getting snow again :/ The sky was very pretty this morning from the bus stop. The pictures don't quite capture it. We are at the top of a mountain and our stop overlooks the valley to the mountains on the other side. We get some nice sunrises over the mountains :)

So, DH decided to tell our DD (she's 12), who has been begging for a phone for a long time, that he'll get her one IF she learns to how run, work, and operate Linux computer systems.... That girl has been on Udemy, studying, watching lessons and taking quizzes nonstop. She's been driving me crazy talking about this phone that's she's going to get and trying to pick it out. Looks like we may have to follow through with this one. I know she works good with motivation but I didn't expect get to dive in head first lol. DH also told DS (he's 13, almost 14) that he could get one too if he learns Python computer coding...... Yeah, I think he's just going to wait till he has a job and buy himself one lol. I think he's content with his iPod and the little flip phone TracFone that we set up for them when they go somewhere. These kids drive me crazy!

I got mauled by turkey poults again this morning. It's hard to feed them when they're all fighting and falling all over each other to try to get on my lap!

It was 53°F yesterday. This morning it looked like this.

It is still coming down and a very windy so that it can drift nicely. It is a heavy, wet snow. The turkeys are normally up and about but this morning they were inclined to stay on their roosts.

Harder to process them too :hit

Yeah :/ but almost half of them are going to New homes this week so that's less that I'll have to worry about lol. Any girls will be safe from processing since they'll be there basses for my penciled flock and the palm, boy or girl will be safe since so many people want them around here lol

It’s started. :hit The blizzard the evil weather “predictors” have been threatening us with. I think they have occult powers and just want to have some fun. They only pretend they aren’t doing this, only observing and reporting. Suuuure... Now the top end prediction is 28”. Oh well, at least it’s not supposed to be too cold. I just hope the power’s not out for too long.

Really, the gas guy finally came yesterday, we have a generator & gas fireplaces, oil lamps, and we’ll be fine. A week long power outage isn’t fun, but it’s not that unusual, either, so we’re always ready. And who knows? Maybe they’re wrong or even maybe the power will hold up. You never know.

Geez R2... I thought this was all supposed to come together when it hit the Black Hills. Very sorry to hear you’re getting it, too. Hope you don’t end up with a big mess. :fl

My poults run from me.. no mauling. Just like my chicks do.

I did what I was not going to do again this year.. I set more turkey eggs...

I candled yesterday and about half the eggs were non starters with a few quitters. I have 25-30 set to hatch on the 23rd. I have only 1 good chicken egg out of 19 I set.

I wore cheaters last night when I candled and saw a lot of the eggs have a tiny hair line crack or two in them...the darn below zero weather took its toll.

I wore the cheaters when I candled before setting and found they had cracks too... amazing invention cheaters are..
