A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Those two have become beloved pets of my husband. He hates the chickens, tolerates the turkeys because they're delicious, but those ducks are his pets. :gig

Practice saying this::

When you were away a raccoon broke in and killed all the dux.. but I ran the raccoon off and managed to save the dux meat for us..

Stay safe down there Memphis!

I'm having one of those days where everything possible seems to be going wrong. It didn't start till this afternoon but the printer stopped working on me when I needed to get a label printed. Of course it was AFTER I paid for the label. It wouldn't work on my phone either. It took 3 restarts, deleting it and reinstalling it on my computer and figuring out how to change it to a printer, not a fax machine on the computer. By then it was too late to get it in the mailbox so I had to take it to the post office. Then I accidentally gave someone the wrong PayPal address to pay me so someone got free money and I now have to ship saddles free (thank God it was only a couple bantam ones). I had to get their shipping address from them and explain what happened and in between everything, my phone would not type one sentence the way I wanted it too. It kept auto correcting EVERYTHING to something completely different. The phone started doing that when this person first started talking to me, in the midst of the printer messing with me. I WAS working on some saddles. It was only supposed to take like 3 minutes to print a label, take it to the mailbox and get back to saddle making. Instead I now have a massive mess all over the kitchen table and bedroom to take care of when I get home. It's VBS week at church so we were rushing to get to the post office before they closed and down to church in time. We won't be home till after 9.

Sorry for the massive vent but:barnie I needed to get it out! Now the kids are at church and I'm sorting in a parking lot, thinking about getting a mcflurry from McDonald's to just chill out a little. :idunno
@Auroradream26 - I totally understand. I hate when my printer waits until it's halfway through the first page - and runs out of ink. But those days almost seem normal now. Many mornings I have to threaten myself with bodily harm - just to get out of bed. :lau

It IS a pain when I have to follow through on the threat.

Besides, venting is good - so is the McFlurry!! :hugs

The mcflurry was WONDERFUL and I'm feeling MUCH better now. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has printer drama!
I just got home and got the coops closed up, feed mixed tomorrow and 1 kid in bed. The other is taking way too long in the shower but that's nothing out of the ordinary. I've got water in for tea and I'm going to see a few saddles before I resign to a hot bath and bed.

I completely agree with the morning bodily harm threats. I'm not a morning person at all. I'm so thankful I don't have to get up early for work anymore. As much as I can't wait to ship these kids back off to school again, I know that early mornings and cold weather come along with it :/ That's when I need to threaten myself the most!

I can safely and happily say I am NOT a morning person. Not in any way, shape or form. There ARE benefits to getting older. No school age kids (knock on wood) at home. No one - and especially including myself - that has to get up to go to work.

I've also gotten smarter and made auto feeders and waterers, so unless there is a PRESSING NEED, I don't have to go let birds out at the as*crack of dawn. They have learned long ago that my schedule outtrumps the sun.

I use cameras to keep track of most of the critters and finally have power to the chicken area. Heated tubs and waterers for the winter - and thankfully my "chicken barn" is as solid as old chestnut and oak timbers can be.

Once I get this new run finished complete with the top and electric all the way around, I think I will be good to go for at least a few more years. (Barring determined bears, fisher cats, and the occasional cougar and coyote).

I am even debating the pros and cons of a heated duck pond for the DUCKS during the winter months. Pros - they would love it. Cons - the very real possibility of a huge glacier protruding from the run come Spring.

Aurora....perfectly acceptable to vent! Heck I'm always venting about the weather. I'm spoiled when it comes to any tech...I just call the tech guy at work & he fixes it for me. Its rendered me hapless when trying to figure out any problem on my own.
Nothing worse than one of those days when nothing goes right. Makes me just want to crawl back into bed. Although a McFlurry & nice bath would help!!

And I'm a morning person. Not that I want to be. Just is what it is I guess. On the flip side....I'm usually toast by 9 at night. The best thing about being an early bird is running the dogs before it gets too hot. I have spot lights out back and it's not beyond me to do a little training about 4:30 in the morning. Or housework. The lights hit the chicken coop so I get chickens in a bit of a stupor pouring out of the doorway. And there is Daisy softly trilling from the depths of her pen. She will not get out of bed that early! Lazy Daisy!
