A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

My boat bird was simply a result of a my flock of miscreants. It amazes us how much trouble they can cause in a shed by themselves.

Yesterday they managed to drag a leg for a saw horse half way across the shed and leave it in the doorway. Blocking the door from closing.

I had gate parts in a box, over the last two weeks they have emptied it and hid the parts.

Winter is rough on them. I open the door most days for them but they seldom venture outside. I think they get bored easily.

Moving stuff and hiding parts, hilarious! give them a jig saw puzzle- break the boredom:gig

Erli....mine have been known to steal stuff too. Ralphie's birds are a playful group!
R2elk....poor Iris! Now I'll be grabbing her & ruffling through her feathers at sunrise!
No, that won't work, you need to keep changing the angles that you are looking at her feathers while the sun is shining on them. Just stand by and watch.

@CindyinSD
I find the pinks and golds show best in the morning sunlight. I suspect that it has to do with the angle of the sunshine as it hits the feathers. I got to see a brief flash of teal blue this morning.
I saw the teal in a wing feather on one of the little toms this morning. Most of the boys are already as big or bigger than my hens from last April. I can’t see the pink yet, but now that I’ve seen your photos it’s only a matter of time. :pop

Ok. New question. :he

What is the best way to contain a turkey so it cannot move - I need to check Tommie's legs and put stuff on them. Pretty sure he has scaly legs. (my avatar pic)

I know ths post is 6 months old, but you can drench for scaly leg mite. Our brand names for products are sometimes different here, but look for an oral worming drench which also kills mites. As scaly leg is a common problem, it seemed worth mentioning.

R3elk....I'm going to hold her up in the sun & ruffle through her feathers. If she has an iridescent feather...I'm finding it!! I'll try watching her...but that's like watching a flea hopping around. Iris is quite active (dramatic)! All the other girls are layed back...I suspect Iris has ADD.
I had to go back and check if R2 changed his name to R3 :D
