A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I don't think I'd go, if I had the choice not to. It just seems like the responsible thing to avoid spreading this. From what I read, it's ten times more deadly than the regular flu. Granted that only puts it at 1%, making it safer than driving to the grocery store--but car accidents aren't contagious.

People steal birds!!

A few years back I lost over 90 chickens in one night, the game camera was kicked over and all I saw was an arm opening the door to my run.

I had lots of birds that year. These 90 were my potential show birds.

It was when I stopped showing many birds as I lost my best genetics that night. The only birds I have left worth showing out my Dominique’s and white Legbars. But they kind of stole my desire and joy in showing birds that night.

so yep they will steal turkeys
I'm so sorry, Ralphie. It is gut-wrenching to lose anything you have put your heart and soul into. I understand the economic loss, yet the emotional involvement most of us have invested in these birds is just as important along with the sheer number of hours involved. I agree that people will steal about anything that isn't nailed down. Oh wait, they will steal those items, too (ex: ATM machines for one).

All that said, I realize I cannot "bulletproof" my setup against any and all intruders - those with wings or 4 legged or 2. I have wished for years to have that 20-foot tall security fence topped with razor wire (and maybe a couple of gun towers). Although I have gone far beyond what I have done in previous decades to minimize my losses, that doesn't mean it will stop anyone with fence or bolt cutters who are intent on getting whatever they are after. I do have security cameras, but even they do not cover everything. One can only do the best they can to prevent as much as possible.

I still hate liars. And people who steal my birds.

Snowed last night but only scattered clouds here and it's mostly melted off already. Supposed to be big storm rolling in tomorrow though.
Parents visiting family friends in Australia. If they get stuck in Australia it won't be terrible, these friends are practically family. One had parents next to my dad's ranch, so they will just hang if need be, both of them are retired and dad does remote consulting for extra income so as long as he has a computer he can work wherever with WiFi.
You wouldn't believe how much work he gets from basically proofreading other engineers.
Still, I asked how abandoned was LAX, and they said it was pleasantly sparse. My dad hates crowds anyways.
