A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Youngsters don't show symptoms but spread it... typhoid Marys :rant:barnie
They need to stay away from olders--they don't necessarily need to stay away from their own age unless it's someone already sick and thus vulnerable. We olders are smart enough to stay to ourselves for as long as we need to. The youngers don't get social security. They need to pay their bills, etc. They need to pay their taxes to keep our ss funded since the crime bosses... er... I mean honorable legislators have spent what we "gave" them.

On a sad note, I'm going to ask for prayers and support for one of our BYC Mods. @sumi is a good friend and a major force behind BYC. She's battling Brain Cancer and could use all the prayers we can give. Here's the thread where we've been keeping track of her. It might be good to read the first post and then the last post made by @TwoCrows. Reading the whole thread would be quite the undertaking, but is still a good read. I'm worried about her and I do believe in the power of prayer.

Are sure sure about this?
Those of us who choose to, yes. That's kind of the thing, though, isn't it? People need to make their own choices, decide for themselves what is an acceptable risk. For you, getting a hug from your friend is worth taking the chance. For me, I wouldn't do it for my husband's sake. He makes Ralphie look cavalier with regard to sanitizing things. To me, that's over the top, but I don't want him feeling uncomfortable so I go along with it. He agrees with me though. He feels that people need to choose for themselves.

I do think that the online schooling thing should continue to be available for anyone who wants to use it. Kids are constantly sick, and that comes from being forced to sit in a room with and interact with sick kids and teachers. How many grandparents have died from *that* danger? Kids are sick (from going to school) and can't attend so grandma/pa watches them so mom/dad can go to work (which in many cases could also be easily done from home). None of this is necessary, at least not in all cases. It's not even beneficial in many cases. People should have as many options as possible and govt should not interfere except to lower taxes in order to facilitate greater freedom.

Hey, I just put a bunch of turkey eggs in a big nesting box where one of my Narragansetts has been spending all her time. I did candle them to look for cracks and development first. What I didn't do was count them or mark them. I guess I'll wait for her to get off and then do it. I'll have to be pulling chicken eggs all along anyway because some of them like that box. She doesn't seem to mind the other girls (or even me) very much. She pecks at me a little bit, but not with much enthusiasm. I sure hope she's serious because we're about to get more weather. 🙄 Hopefully it doesn't last too long.

What I was referring to was the following.
We olders are smart enough to stay to ourselves for as long as we need to.
Just because we are older does not automatically mean we are smart enough to do what is necessary. Those of us who were hard headed, stubborn youngsters still maintain that trait and if anything are even worse than when we were younger. Wisdom does not always come with age. We hope it does but...

I offer classes in “wisdom” for older folks. A perfectly social distance class.

Simply send me $199 and I will send you the entire class. I guarantee you will be wiser.

Speaking of wisdom, my Grandpa back in the 1930s gained wisdom. I don’t recall the price he paid for this wisdom. I assume it wasn’t much but during the depression every nickel counted.

He answered an add that had fool proof method of killing potato bugs.

When he got it it was two small boards. The instructions were to pick the bug off the potato place it on one board and smash it with the other board.

This was relayed to me by my Dad. He said Grandpa was not happy with his potato bug killer.
