Blue slates are a beautiful choice!

Not good news at any time - New case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza case in USA, specifically South Carolina. Practice social distancing with your flocks from other flocks!

April 9, 2020, Washington, D.C. – The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic H7N3 avian influenza (HPAI) in a commercial turkey flock in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. This is the first confirmed case of HPAI in commercial poultry in the United States since 2017. It appears this HPAI strain mutated from a low pathogenic strain that has been found in poultry in that area recently.
No human cases of this H7N3 avian influenza virus have been detected and there is no immediate public health concern. As a reminder, the proper handling and cooking of poultry and eggs to an internal temperature of 165 ˚F kills bacteria and viruses.

Everyone here knows a fair amount about turkeys.

Where are you getting them from? How many?

Do you have other birds?

And

Glad to see you found this thread too.

Talk to Ralphie, St. Judy said his have to go.

If my turkeys had not inexplicably stopped laying eggs, I could send her some to hatch.

Also I caught the white rooster picking on a small RP hen yesterday. He flew sideways for about 15 ft as a penalty for that bad behavior.

He needs to learn where an extra white legbar rooster sits on the totem pole compared to a sweet kind luvable RP hen.

If he keeps it up he might get to try out the white cone nailed to the tree.

I got in trouble today at work... a customer came in showing off the "jake" they had shot while turkey hunting.... oops I might have told them that it was a hen, even if it does have a beard. tiny snood and feathers covering the head oh and the beard is way to long to be a young jake. oops now they are mad
Bearded hens are legal, they just didn't get a tom.

Here bearded hens are legal to shoot. The rules here are simply a visible beard.
