A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I use (d) a combination of electric and welded wire. Each has there place.

an electric wire does little good against a coyote, unless they touch it with their nose. They seldom will, a dog and wolf will.

Coons are Gods blight on the innocent.

My preferred method of predator control is known by most, no sense ticking off the kind souls today.

Thankfully I havent had too many issues with raccoons. All my birds get penned up with hardware cloth and locks with multiple carabiners at night. So far I havent seen a daytime raccoon but honestly after the daytime coyotes it probably wouldn't surprise me. My biggest fears for the turkeys are the big ground preds during morning, day and evening. Especially stray dogs, since they just like to kill for fun mostly. I have 100ft of welded wire i bought to patch up the old rotting picket fence in the backyard, we just havent gotten around to it because of other things and dreading trying to put the tposts in our horribly rocky soil

They are just looking for the weak place in your fencing before they resort to lock picking.

Is there anything turkeys won't eat? This year I planted a patch of corn and pumpkins for shade/cover/food, and covered the plants until they were over 3' high. After 2 weeks it is nothing but bare stems, the turkeys defoliated everything faster than agent orange. I don't think they were even eating it, they just enjoy ripping it up. Now they have no shade.

Daylilies, snake weed, goldenrod, jump seed, mares tail.... nothing that I want lol

Can y'all help me with some math? We are trying to get a permanent sleeping/at night pen for my turkeys and im having issues with square footage. I read its about 10sq ft per turkey in a night only coop. I am going to have 8 turkeys after the babies i keep are big enough. That would be 80sq ft i need, right? A 10x10 dog kennel is 100sq ft as well, right? So would 1 10 x 10 dog kennel be big enough as a night only pen for my turkeys?

Thanks. sorry if confusing. I am tired and have been trying to figure stuff out for a week. I am not interested in roosting them outside btw. Nothing against those of you who do, I just dont prefer it myself.
