A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

After the fat thin conversation, I went out and felt up the birds.

Turns out the hens are plenty fat. Only the toms seemed to be thin.

I probably have too many toms for sure. You wouldn't know I butchered close to 30 jakes last fall.

How big are the Recessive Slates?
MASSIVE, but I won't sell them for dinner. Too special. There turned out to be one tiger bronze tom, and one of them was a penciled bronze. The tiger bronze tom is actually really friendly and lets me pick him up. Esther is naming him, for sure. He even eats from my hand while I am petting him. Such a good boy! The tiger blues are all girls. They are pretty small, but not skinny. The recessive slates are becoming lurkeys. They are actually very excellent foragers. They tend to go further and forage better than some of the others.

I haven't been in here for a few days but all that snow is insane! We're 75° this evening and easily hit 80 earlier. I was closing up the coops and all the turkeys are panting with their wings out away from their bodies. It feels more like a June evening than early April.

It was 9°F this morning, got up to 37°F and is currently 25°F.
