A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Fiesty...we must stand in solidarity! Fight the urge to buy an incubator. I would be up to my eyeballs in birds if I owned one. It scares me!

Ralphie...you gotta do what's right with Ginger. My dogs go through stringent health checks prior to any breeding. For their whole life really. And yes, I've had my heart broken by a few I just loved but weren't going to make the grade. It's tough but if you care about the breed you do what's right.

So when is Coffee becoming a turkey moma?

As soon as I can talk her into it..

I am thinking she may need to consume more alcohol..

Maybe I could get my Wife to take her out for a girls night out and I could sneak Ginger into her back seat..

Just say no to incubators! I got it!! My DH would kill me if we had to build a bunch more bird accommodations to support my addiction :) Theoretically we have the space, but I don't think that was what he had in mind when he bought me a few chicks for my birthday last year :gig

Ralph - It sucks to have to get rid of birds, but makes sense to do it. I probably will have to thin out my boys at some point too (or build some separate spaces for them). Darn it!

OK Ralphie! Tonight's the night! Sneak into Coffee's house late tonight with Ginger. Nestle him into her Christmas tree. And Christmas morning she'll find him roosting in her tree! The Christmas miracle!

I wish I could. But I think that is impossible.

Ginger is wearing a red hat with a bell on it and green elf shoes with bells on the toes, Ginger refuses to remove them, says they are his Christmas threads.

Sounds like Ginger is getting into the Christmas spirit! They are hoping for lots of Christmas treats.

He is!!

It is a real shame, that this will most likely be his last Christmas. Just my luck a turkey I could like and enjoy having around has to have a genetic defect that demands his culling.

I wish I could find a family that wants a pet turkey..

Do you know how many people do not think of turkeys as pets?

I have just found out in talking with Ginger, he is not just any turkey.

He is a Jihadist turkey. They believe if they sacrifice themselves to be the guest of honor at a family feast, they will get 76 virgin poults in the next life, That is Ginger's new goal. Someone needs to help him reach this goal.

ANd the good news,

I was out sitting with the turkeys, watching them and I thought one of the Self Blues looked wrong.

I looked harder and saw she is a rusty Lavender.

I think..

I hope you can see the "sandy" color on the wings and the tail. I did not enhance the photos with the hopes this shows it best.
