A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph I use jars or what ever I can find so the poults or chicks can't get in them. But I do not let my humidity go over 60-65% but I try to keep it at 60%! Or they will die from to much humidity and they can't get out.

I have sponges in mine I drop water in with a turkey baster needle/syringe. I try to keep at just above 60, but right after I add water it will go over 70 for a bit. Because I am running a little cool, I figure the higher humidity is not as dangerous.

I had to go to the big city (Princeton) for a litte over an hour, when I came back the heat lamp outside in the brooder had stopped working. the Chicks and pouts were huddled together and it was 59 degrees..

I made a thermostat for in there with an old water heater thermostat. I put it on a cord with 2 outlets, I never put the second light in because it was a new bulb and lamp. It has 2 lamps on it now and seems to be working good.

The birds are all looking ok. I hope none of them got too chilled. (something more to worry about)

Oh Ralph I am so sorry! If they are looking good they should be fine!

thanks, When I saw the temp my heart sank, When I saw them huddled together I was less worried. I opened the door to the tractor for them and some still ran outside to play. They must not have been too cold.
