A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

That is one of the reasons that I am not really wanting an autosexing breed. I sell my chicks as straight run and rarely have extra roosters to deal with. Last year I never got to have a pot of chicken noodle soup because I just didn't have any extra roosters to eat.

the other thing is I make half per chick over a rarer non-autosexing chick. The roosters cut the amount in half.

Hi Guys, I posted a thread asking questions about 4-H market turkeys, But it has been a few days, and I hope you guys can answer them, I need to know, pretty soon, This is a link to the thread, if anyone can answer my Questions that would be great!

What kind of \poults you getting Heritage of BB?

It makes a difference, when they are young just treat them a lot like chicks but feed them more protein.

They are most likely going to be Broad Breasted, I have never had turkeys before, So I don't really know much about that

Aurora....wish you had a hen cam on Pebbles. Boy is she going to be surprised! LOL

She just had a panic attack when I took the extra eggs that she gathered from her! I made the mistake of leaving them within reach of ms long neck and she was crying and getting to get them back under her. I distracted her with her own eggs but she still cried the whole time she was tucking them back in. No pips or peeps from her eggs yet. Once they were all out of site, she went back to silent broody mode lol

Boy, I sure don't know. What weight are you looking for at show time? BB are easy to grow, of course they are like CX broilers and tend to over eat. I would get twice as many as you expect to show, just incase. Some turkeys love to commit suicide in very creative ways.

I wish I know more but without knowing your end goals it is kind of hard. You will have to familiarize yourself with the SOP for them and what the local judges seems to like.

Sorry we are not more help.

I went out and candled Pebbles' eggs a few minutes ago. One is pipped internally. The other 3, I'm not sure about. 2 look like they may have quit and the other one, I just can't tell anything. It looks like it could've quit too. We'll see how it all plays out. I have a lot of preorders for my poults right now but if that one lonely chick hatches, I may give her one or two more poults to work with. More and more are wiggling and pipped in the bator.
