A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hey guys i went to auction last night and got a 1 year old Bronze/Palm cross hen.  Her toenails are pretty long and her toes are kind of twisted because of her toes.  She can walk but like i said her toes are twisted what should i do??  I will post pictures later.

Use a pair of dog toenail clippers to snip them. Just do a little at a time to make sure you don't cut the quick. I had to do it to a new roo I brought home last week. His nails were also long and twisting. Here's a picture after his manicure.

So much info to absorb!

I love seeing everyones pic and stories, everyone seems to have such personable Turkeys!

I've raised Bronze Breasted once a year as table birds for most of my youth, but as we decide which Poults we're trying to order for the spring, we are definitely leaning towards the Heritage breeds! (Bourbon Reds and Royal Palms are how I lean, but the SO is putting up a pretty good case for Slate and Spanish Blacks, I like uniformity in my flocks, but the Turkeys might actually end up as an Assortment during our first year, hah!)

Countrygirl & GabrialBane ya both need to to Porters Heritage Breed Turkeys & check out all the different varieties. He also has a "Calculator " where you can plug in the parents to see what colors you can get. Its a great, but addicting, site!!

We have several folks here who have birds from Porter. Wish they'd post some current pics! Hint, hint.....

A few of Ralphies birds are on the site representing unusual color variations.
