A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hahaha! My big baby DH is quite a handful, I doubt anyone else would put up with him. I love the big guy anyways. He's probably going to know that I knew, he's good at reading me. I'll get a lecture, a big sigh, and possibly he will go sleep on the couch tonight, but it will all blow over.

I get them all the time... BTW I am currently under a "Amazon Ban"..... I am practicing saying " I forgot, Sorry dear it won't happen again" and not snickering while I say it.

I know The feeling I just bought a shed after we moved the rabbits for the 7th time now so now I have to go home and really practice saying I'm sorry I forgot

countrygirl. Welcome to the thread!

from the pic of your young turkeys above. the one farthest back fluffed up is a male.

this doesn't work all the time but make a sharp noise. that would make an adult gobble. a lot if the time a young male will give a 6 to 8 note cadenced yelp just because they aren't old enough to full gobble. hens will remain silent.

Feedman77 he/she fluffed up like that cause the two toms (BBW)I have fluffed up when two visitors they never saw before came to see them

I got home from my daughter's dance class this evening and heard all kinds of turkey obscenities and arguing coming from the coop. I opened the door to see what was going on and there were Sweet Pea and Eve, in full strut up in the rafters having a heated arguement. I have no clue what it was about since they've been good friends since they were babies. Maybe it was over who the best looking tom is in the coop or possibly the election). Mary and Romeo were both standing too since they were next to them, almost like they were in defensive mode lol. There was a 2x4 in between the girls so they really couldn't get at each other but I did see Sweet Pea take a swipe at Eve. I climbed up on the table that's in there and had to calm both girls down. It took a good 10 minutes of talking and petting them to get them to settle down on the roost and quit arguing. I killed the light before they had a chance to get wound up again. Hopefully they sleep it off and forget about it in the morning. Goofy birds!

Well, I got home and checked on poor Ladybird. Her poult hatched and fluffed out, and then she accidentally smooshed it. Poor mama, it was her first time going broody. I guess no poults in the snow

Aww, poor thing! Maybe you could find some chicks on Craigslist for her to raise. Chicks are more resilient.

I would never hear the end of it if I went and actually bought chicks in the fall. I would be on the couch for a month! Hahaha. But I do feel for her. If she goes broody in the spring with Annabelle and Rosabelle it will probably go better for her, although I don't think she's technically a part of their clique. Still, Annabelle and Rosabelle have raised a very successful batch on their second try, loosing only 2 out of 15, one to curious horses and one to drowning in the stock tank, so going to be eating a lot of turkeys later on once they get big enough.
