A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I was lucky enough to be able to audit several judges at the Ohio Nationals several years ago. Boy was that fun. Over 5000 birds.

I still you should show Ralphs slates. What fun would that be? There is never many turkeys being shown. You could clean up !

Really? Are you just "funning" me?

My slates look good enough to show?

BTW Penguin must have been a bad boy yesterday. When I got them into the pen last night, with pure shell corn, ( turkey crack) Sidekick went over the edge of the fence instead of to the corn. I was wondering what he was doing.

When Penguin came through the door, Sidekick grabbed him and spun him around then chased him nipping at him.

I am assuming JJ ( the turkey godfather) told Sidekick to do it. Sidekick only seems to take enforcement actions on Toms that tick off JJ. He never does anything like this otherwise. It was so different because it looked like he knew where to stand that Penguin would not see him until it was too late.

BTW I am sure Penguin deserved it.

My boys have at least another week to live, We are looking at sub-zero weather up here for the next week, I am not going to send them to freezer camp in this. Not for their comfort though, for mine.

Unless Holm comes over and helps me. ( and by "Helps" I mean does it.)

Holm...they are a cute couple!

Ralphie. ..so Sidekick ambushed Penguin. Knowing how clever turkeys can be, I'm sure it was completely planned! Or just dumb turkey luck!

I have no idea what the SOP is for slates. I just thought it would be cool, if Holm is going to show, to enter a turkey too! I've hardly ever seen turkeys entered at shows. What would be interesting is to get a few judges opinions on the birds.

You raise a good point. Lots would have to be done though to see if his toms and hens are show quality!!

I think I am dyslexic when it comes to reading SOP's.

I want some one to put together a pictured thread that shows the good and the bad with little arrows and stuff. And then explains it without getting so far in the weeds the deer flies are attacking me.

I want this for chickens too.

The point would be is to get judges opinions. So you show up with a few nice slate hens. Talk over the good and bad points. It would help in developing a breeding program.

While I have Sidekick, who I bought from that guy in Milaca that you dealt with I have no hens left from my original purchase from him, ( I don't think) I do have babies of Sidekick and the original hens.

I am going for color instead of purity now, so that could wipe me out of any shows. I think Porter is the perfect Tom, and I hope Coffee will like him..
