A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Just sold both turkeys, I also canceled my order from Porter's. I decided I have too many birds so will just focus on chickens for now. My family is happy about that, nobody else really likes turkeys here

So I'll just enjoy reading other peoples turkey stories now.

Yep...samdsame with dogs Holm. But if Ralphie 's flock has moved past the standard for blue slate color then it's not worth entering. Heck, maybe I'll enter Miss Daisy just for the learning experience.

I keep Sidekick and a few girls pure just to keep some that do not move beyond. Sidekick with a Blue gives me 50/50 blues/self blues.

Morning all. Uggg....rain expected all day today. Then the cold front rolls in. Our lows are expected to be in the 20's. I know. ...that's nothing compared to most of you, I'm just a whimp!

Annie has become a squirrel chaser. I have a pecan grove in their yard. Squirrels are the bane of my existence. Rats with tails. Annie has decided she likes chasing them back up into the trees. I'm loving it!

Justdishy....did you decide she's a broad breasted turkey?

I think so, but will add photo later. I'm in eastern WA today taking child back to WSU. Looking on Craigslist for building materials too.

Goodness it's quiet tonight! It's 36 degrees and raining. Nothing more miserable! Cold + high humidity is horrid. And it's windy.

Did get out a bit with the girls between waves of rain. It was wet, but the girls didn't care. They ended up perching on the back railing. It's covered. So they were out of the rain most of the day. I think my turkeys may be lazy. The chickens put a lot of effort into foraging. The turkeys just goof around most of the day. I also think Daisy is getting pudgy. Is that possible? Could my dear Daisy be developing a weight issue? Or maybe she's just filling out with age.....:/

U know whats worse... 25 mile per hour wind with 3 below temps and feels like 30 below. That sucks. But everyone was outside today. They are Minnesota tough birds!!

NYTHING living in Minnesota this time of year better be tough!:)

I just want longer daylight hours! That makes everything better!

It's been between 35 and 40 here, but sunny, which is a lovely change for us!

Monday I am running home for a funeral and it's 0 there......I'm gonna freeze :( I was supposed to be heading to New Zealand on Monday for a few weeks, but canceled my tickets earlier this week. Very bummed about losing family members and not heading to a beach. Then my darn broody chicken decides that she's no longer broody on day 20 - I found her eggs stone cold this morning. And I have no incubator, dang it! I've got them sitting under a heating pad to see if there's any movement or signs of life....if there is, I'll go buy a little incubator :barnie This is how it starts right??? You need an incubator for something, and then it's all over and you have a million birds :lau

Feisty, good luck on the eggs.

I had a hen do that about 3-4 times last summer before she decided to sit forever, ( with guineas adding eggs everyday.

Had she just sat the first time life would have been way better for all of us.

I will be so happy when we get 9 hours of daylight, but the days are getting longer everyday, Before long it will be summer, and this 8 below stuff will be a distant memory.
