A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ok my turn to ask questions.

What is a calico?

Holm another full body picture please.
A full set of pictures of Daisy Please, Full frontal nudity would be nice.

What is genotype of the Calico?

I am sadden by the demise of Peepers, I was so rooting for him/her.

How fast do Russian Olives grow? How tall?

Holm would you like a pair or trio of Slates to show? I would gladly lend you some, ( for keeps). If you tell your parents you are just "borrowing" them I am sure it would go over better than a lead balloon. I see we are headed to nice weather next weekend I hope to get new breeding pens done. The Partridge chanticleer have not laid eggs yet, but maybe in their own pens they would, if you want to show them.

Coffee has been real busy, And she had a nasty cancer scare, so I forgive her missing this thread, up and until yesterday...Now she has no excuse..

Porter is not going until her house closes. She needs to sell her current house, the new purchase was contingent on the old one selling. She just got it listed the other day, but she had 5 showings yesterday.

Ginger and Penguin leave on Wednesday. I am so glad they are going. I do not mind sending the others to freezer camp. They are kind of "also" turkeys that I do not interact with or really even pay attention too. I actually will look forward to eating them. I am selling some roosters to an extended Asian family today. Maybe I can get them to take turkeys. I wish I had not named Ginger and Penguin, but unusual ones are hard to not name, simply because we notice them.

It is 4 below right now, that is the high for the day. Not a fun day in Minnesota.

On a turkey note.

My toms have been really beating on each other for pecking order. Have seen a couple of hens lay and get mated.

Guess I bs tter get my breeder pens updated.

Maybe they will surprise me and I will get eggs before march.

I am marching towards breeding pens also, I sure hope there is no mating going on. BUT the fighting is getting unbearable! Everytime I look or go outside I see snood pulling contest and chest bumping. I noticed one of the younger toms had a black head from scabs on it.

Feedman what state are you in, my old senior brain does not recall.

I told my husband this morning that I set turkey eggs last night again. He said, what! No more! We're going to have too many! I told him that they won't all hatch. I definitely didn't disclose how many are actualy IN the bator. Not having a window on the door may actualy work to my advantage.

LOL

I got a package yesterday.. Two actually.

One was my turkey egg racks the other my new PID thermostat. She asked why we needed so many egg racks, I told her they only come in packs of 6 and they are needed for the incubator to work...

Then she saw my new girlie thermometer I had ordered. She paid for the Amazon prime account so she gets an email every time I order something. I am going to try and change the email address on our account. BUT my email address is on a non-prime account.

She did ask why if I got the new incubator I need to have 3 others set up.

I'm in missouri.

Looks like your dw is beginning to see there is something afowl. With your incubator/hatching potential ahead.

Very Possible, she did ask how many eggs I could hatch at one time..

I tried to hedge by saying " every type of bird has different size eggs so it depends".

She might have caught on, she said " How many Chicken eggs at once?."

I tried to hedge and said I " I can get 41 in each of those little incubators"

She was relentless " haw many in the big one there?"

I said " chicken eggs?"

She said " yes, chicken eggs"

Still hedging, I said "a little over 200"

She can be a witch and said " how many over 200"

I told her," I think 288"... She thought that was closer to 300 than 200. It went down hill from there. She was not as excited about my 400 plus egg capacity as I was...

Ralph this is my Calico. I hope to get some gold Narragansetts out of him and his girl friend.

I will talk to my parents about showing turkeys. It is getting late but I would think they would be filled out and fully feathered by then.
