A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Is that one of the Doms? It is tiny! Always amazes me how such tiny little guys can fight their way out of those shells. I've been thinking of adding Doms, I'll be interested to see what you think of them.
Yes it's one of the Doms. The other two that have piped are Doms as well.

Chaos-congratulations on the new babies!

Holm-those are gorgeous birds!

Ralph-it is amazing isn't it? I actualy have an order for 10 pullets and 2 cockerels (creamettes of course). The people know that I won't even have my breeding pens done until the end of spring sometime and chicks won't be around until the beginning of summer! lol
Thanks. Hows you eggs coming along?

Aurora, have you run Adam through the calculator with any other type of hens...like slate or palm? Just wondering if you'll be diversifying the flock.....

Ralph...how many blue slate hens do you have? Maybe Holm would let you borrow his Tom for a month this spring.....heck he'll be busy showing the slates....you could set up a pen for his tom & a few cute slate girls!

I know it pales in comparison, but it's 25 here this morning.

I have 7 slate hens, only one is a blue the other 6 are self blues. which is weird. I need some blues out of her and sidekick. I suppose I could keep one of the blue toms heading to camp next weekend and send Sidekick to camp instead. Then I could get my blues from him and a self blue hen. I kind of hate the idea of doing sidekick in. JJ may never forgive me.

Oh man! 25 degrees, I long for warm weather like that.

It's cool you both have Creamette orders! I have to admit they are beautiful! I'm still stuck on my Speckled Sussex!

I will be breeding my speckled Sussex in a couple months. I am not even getting eggs from them yet. BUT they are not getting any artificial light. I love the Sussex's they are such sweeties. Even if the rooster is a bellybutton.

Well, of my horribly packaged Marans eggs, I ended up with 3 little babies. All of which, I had to help hatch. They're in the brooder with my 2 week olds. I need to get a picture of them for everyone later on. They're such sweet little fluffy butts. They keep wiggling their way under the wings and against the 4 week old silkie chick that's in there lol. They're priming her for future broodiness!

No, I haven't. I did for bronze and red bronze since that's what I have but nothing else....yet

"Yet" being the operable word here!!

I really like my friends Doms! But just can't seem to resist a Speckled Sussex!

I'm in the process of getting Dominiques. I got them from My Pet Chicken so maybe they are good hatchery quality although I have no clue.

Ahh, I remember now, (senior memory and all here)..

I was so excited when I read that, I thought we would be swapping eggs! I guess it will be a while before you get eggs.

I am working towards not having any single comb birds, because of our cold here and the frostbite. Doms are on my list, I like my barred rocks but the comb is not right for here. So Doms are the replacement for them.
