You might be right!

R2elk....you getting any eggs yet?

No turkey eggs at this time. None expected until mid to late march. No actual breeding going on so far.

Big Bird survived her first night with my laying hens and is definitely out exploring more today. Whew. I was worried that she was going to take up residence on top of the nest boxes and stay there lol. My little barred rock hen with the blue kote'd head is still chasing her, but everyone else seems fine sharing with her. Big Bird is so gentle, I don't think she realizes that she could just step on Bessie and she'd win

She's now brave enough to get out and play with the chickens' cabbage ball :) Pardon the bad picture, it's been raining like crazy today.

Sort of like that with dogs. Get one bellybutton and the whole kennel can get bazerk. Did Ethel get out too? Or is she hanging with the chickens? So how many turkey breeding pens will you end up with? I'm loosing track......

Ethel is out and about with the turkeys but her and one other hen sleep with the chickens..weird.....

I am going to have a pen for : JJ
Sidekick
The blue
Mr T.

Porter will be in a pen but not be breeding. I am afraid if I leave him run lose he will just cause problems.

JJ and Sidekick will share there pens with chickens. They are large pens. I might even have Guineas with JJ. He will take no guff from them.

The blue and Mr T will have smaller pens. Once Mr T goes back home his hens will stay in the pen for a couple months.

Porter will leave here in Mid March, I am thinking he will be all alone.

Chicken pens will be Creamettes split in 2 pens. nopt with turkeys they are too flighty..

BA with Sidekick.....
PC with JJ and Guineas..
Toads in pen they are in..
Speckled Sussex in pen they are in..
EE/layers where they are with the EE and EE/CLB cross roosters.

so all I need is 4 more pens!

Ralph - it's a good thing you have lots of space.....that's a lot of pens :gig

I've got to get some new bird housing started soon....wanting to build a couple of 12 x 16 'bird buildings' and take down the old big barn (which happens to be in the way for where we want to put our house). We don't have any large animals - so really don't need a big barn. They won't be fancy, but I'm sure the birds won't complain too loudly. Now to get myself motivated and figure out where they will be best located and then get cracking. I wish it would stop raining....so much easier to make myself work out there when it's not like a cold monsoon

I want to put up new covered runs this summer, maybe 3 more. That will help a lot and I want to make several breeding runs 8-10 ft wide and 40 ft long, tall enough to walk in. The one I have now is about 10 ft wide but only 5 ft tall so it is hard to walk in.
