A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I kinda like Romeo. He sounds like a sweetie. Do the turkeys snuggle up to the kids? Nothing like a hen hug!

my Tom is missing all his tail. Looking pretty ridiculous. He had been hiding from vain embarrassment. But whenever Esther is out, he's got to show off for her, tail or no.

Oh yes, very much so. We were all sitting near each other. Dinner (the one we picked for Thanksgiving) had crawled up on my lap, a random hen hopped up on my shoulder, Pebbles was pushed against my side, Cuddles was on my daughter's lap with another one playing with her hair and Romeo was on my son's lap lol. Romeo did end up accidently hitting my son in the neck but only because Adam jumped at him and scared him so he jumped and crashed into my son.

Finnie and Ralph - love the baby pics, they are adorable!

Ralph - Sidekick is too funny.... And no video of your turkey wrassling escapades today???? It sounded like one we definitely wanted to see :gig

Bantambird - your boy with no tail looks like a bit like a beach ball when he's fluffed up :D

Aurora - Romeo sounds like a great name for a cuddly guy. Glad Queenie is healing up, even if it's a bit of a pain for a few days to haul her in and out at night.

Absolutely no excitement here these days..... More chores than hours in the day lately lol.

LOL! Feisty your right...he does look like a beach ball!

Aurora...I love that your raising the next generation of turkey lovers!

Ralph, hoping your not any worse for wear after the hen wrassling. I would love to see a shot of Sidekick with the hens.

Not much happening here. So hot & humid its hard to even breath outside. All turkeys & chickens are hugging fans or wading in the pool. Its miserable and getting worse over the weekend. :(

Bantambird The turkeys are all starting to look pretty rough this time of year. I think mine are Aruacanna (or however it is spelled) turkeys.

Mr T's picture reminded me of Pocahontas and her tail last year.

When Coffee and her DH stopped over the other day JJ came up to the deck where we were having coffee (the drink) and showed off. She was laughing at him showing off with most the tail feather missing and no chest feathers. She was kind of in shock when I told her Porter would be looking like that soon...

I got a text from her yesterday, She was afraid she was going to prison. Her DH was on their deck, she had picked a bowl of strawberries and the DH decided to feed them to porter one at a time. Porter ate the whole bowl. She says Porter is a true strawberry connoisseur. When they go to the strawberry patch he gets excited hops around and clicks then follows them to it and eats while they pick. She says he has become a tolerant. He will follow them or walk alongside them whenever they are outside. But he pulls away when they touch him.

I wish I had a video of the turkey wrassling, but they are never planned and when they occur I am too busy to think of the camera.

This is little Neptune he's blind in his left eye from the piece of hay that got into it when we brought him home. He can't pick up small pieces of food or moths but does ok eating from a bowl

Good grief - having a very tough time posting photos today!

Turkey parents - your little guy is really cute, and he's lucky to have you to feed him :)

I love the time we spend sitting and watching the bird antics after we're done chores. The fruit has started falling off the trees and the girls have discovered that they really love plums. Big Bird and Coco were racing around the yard playing keepaway with plums this evening :p. Great entertainment (definitely funnier to watch in person than in pictures - but I'll post them anyway lol)!

Feisty...looks like the turkey girls are having a blast. Nothing better than relaxing with my turkeys in the evenings.

Heat & humidity increasing here. Just miserable. No relief in site. Will break 100 this weekend. Heat indexes expected to be close to 120. Its so humid i can hardly breath. Ok, enough whining.

Going back to see the surgeon Friday. 3 week check up. Hoping things are healing ok. Im so tired of only using one arm...sighhhh.

He is a cutey!

I have never seen the turkeys play keep away, that would be cool.

I lost the nest the two hens and Sidekick were sitting on last night. The birds were all off and safe, the turkey eggs are gone, but there are some chicken eggs in there. Some are broken open. I found a pile of poop the other day that appeared to be buried by a cat family member. The poop was between a quarter or a half dollar piece and about 3 inches long. The scratch marks are about 2 feet around. It is a big pile.

I am thinking I have a lynx or bobcat here. I am not sure a cat would eat eggs. The turkeys were all safe, but nervous this morning. It is trail cam time again. I may have to do some serious trapping. Luckily I locked up the hen with the 2 chicks in Lizzies cage last night.

I hate predators!
