A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Thanks for asking fiestychick actually im more confident that I have at least one tom I have been watching the one and I made it let me touch it and I found a beard just starting to grow and I have been seeing the poop in a j shape so I still hope.

Hi there Chickadoodles! You need to drop by more often.

Countrygirl....how old are your turkeys? You know hens can have beards too. I have a bearded lady & so do several other folks here. Remember the toms have bald heads and the hens have a strip of feathers on their heads down the back of their necks.

My turkeys are 12 weeks and one is 9 weeks and I do remember that hens can have beards too that why I haven't named any of them yet this is the one I'm watching it was 8 weeks old

Well, my week-olds (ish) are starting to attempt wing usage. Time to reinforce the walls of the brooder. I don't remember ever, in my 15+ years of having poultry, ever enjoying the "baby phase" of a birds life as much as the poults. Sweet, Personable, Friendly, Active, Independent, etc. I'm glad these four aren't freezer birds because I'm not sure if I could ever process them.

I'll do better about distancing myself from their babies.

Hah, today when the little ones get free-range of our spare bedroom (where our brooders are currently set-up), I'll snag more pics, you guys are going to love the Narragansett x's , they're feathering/growing SO much faster than our lighter colored tom (?), makes me wonder if they were hatched on different dates, or if they simply have different parents. :p

But yes, pics are coming, I promise!
