Not very good lighting they were under a huge hedge apple tree we have.

That's Elvis our only rooster. He's such a gorgeous boy. The last pics are of our frizzle hen and our silkie hen. Both are the sweetest easy going birds I've ever seen. Total lovers.

StephCraig - my turkey hens live with my chickens and have been fine. Blackhead hasn't been an issue here - depends on your area. My turkey toms have their own side of the barn (the bachelor quarters), they like the chickens - but after the first few times they sat on a chicken they got their own area

R2Elk - Such gorgeous birds and you always take amazing photos!

It stopped raining today, so I kicked all the birds out of their runs to free range. Got my barn cleaning done without getting soaked for a change :celebrate

Thank you very much. Glad the rain stopped.

Beautiful photos, R2elk!

I really wish I had a Sweetgrass.

I will be offering poults this coming year! I really lucked out with mine from Porter. I ended up with 6 hens out of 8 and one of the toms is a Red Sweetgrass, so I can make Fall Fires too 'if' I can come up with another breeding pen!

Today's show went really well. We had a good turnout, probably around 300 birds which is good for a small lawn show. Only 4 turkeys entered, my Bronze and Royal Palm toms took Best and Reserve, but no competition really, since the others entered were immature, one was a Narragansett hen, the other was a young Red Bronze tom that the owner thought was a Bronze. So I showed him why it was Red Bronze. The bird was given to him and he didn't really know what it was.

My cardboard divider keeping the turks behind the front seats and also separated from each other worked really well. No incidents.

My Barred Rock hen took Best American AND Show Champion! And my Barred Rock cock was Reserve American. There were 26 large fowl American class entered, but most were hatchery birds. A lot of 4H kids had entered I think. Well hopefully now they know what a good Barred Rock should look like. It was really hot there, even in the shade. We are having 14-16 degrees above normal temperatures. It was in the mid-90's
