Folks,

Can someone post a pic of a broody hen? I have a palm hen who is sitting dead center of her winter house with wings extended. My birds are not supposed to be old enough for this behavior. They are six months old and no artificial light.

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to re-plan my winter housing to provide for conjugal visits. My SR del's have turned out to be 8 pullets and 16 cockerels. This weekend I'm going to separate all but two of the cockerels as they are starting to display LGBTQ tendencies. The weather is still too unpredictable to setup a processing day, so they will have to wait a few weeks to head to the freezer. I'm planning on keeping two with the girls this year and two for the off spring next year. The rest are freezer bound. I'm going to need to find a palm for next year as I only have one palm tom. He's magnificent--but only one.

I'm still planning on keeping one extra Tom from each breed for next year's mating. The rest are freezer bound. Is my plan sound? Mating uncles to nieces and then grand parents to grand children.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

r/Bob

Your hen is not broody, she is "horny"...... That is what they do, for hours on end.
