Oh, I know. Ralphie, you should try Langshans! Well, except their eggs are not real dark. Kind of dark, though. And they are just OK layers. Some every day, some every other. And of course, none when they go broody. And they also have a single comb, BUT- it's a medium to small size comb, and it handles winter pretty well. So it might not be so bad for you. At least it's a breed you can show! Anyway, I couldn't think of any breeds that fit your criteria, and I really like my Langshans, so I'm just putting a plug in for them.

I think I was gonna buy some Langshan eggs from a breeder. She has some of the best Langshans in the States I was told. And judging from pics I agree they are amazing!
