Definitely check for fertility! Plus, you should add more so you don't have a lonely poult.

;)

I have saved eggs up to 21 days before incubating with reasonable results.  I know that 7 - 10 days is the recommended limit but...

@Sally Sunshine
  has experimented with longer term storage of hatching eggs that shows reasonable results.  My understanding is that you place the eggs pointy side up in a carton, place them in a plastic bag, store them in a cool place and do not turn them.  It is worth a try.

Pointy side up, huh? And no turning. I could go for that. These ones I just hatched, some of them were over 10 days old. I just had them pointy side down on my counter with no turning. I dated them, too, and it was interesting to see that the one early quitter was dated the same day I set them. So freshest isn't necessarily the best.
I think I will save all of Swan's eggs and set them some time around my daughter's due date.

Finnie, eat that egg! And enjoy every bite!

LOL! I will just eat all of Muffin's eggs! She has been squatting for me the past few days, so I think she will be laying soon too. And she never squatted for Cinnamon, so I doubt any of hers will be fertile.

Does Greyhound go from DL to Pierz?    or have you considered running away from home, riding your thumb?

R2elk,    did both the 9-3 come from me or one from the USDA?   I just punch the button and have no idea what happens it's like magic here...

They only have buses that go to White Earth and back. At least thats all I have seen. If I run away I better start walking cuz it will be a few days!

Mission accomplished. Got her out of the burn pile and got some pictures of her. Then she started walking funny, and the next thing I know, she laid an egg right there in the grass! Too bad I wasn't thinking fast enough to get a shot of her during the laying.

Ha ha! I know. I was even contemplating mowing parts of it today!

I bet Memphis has been mowing hers for weeks.

Yep.....I've mowed twice & will again this week. We also have leaves on most trees. My pecan trees take forever to leaf out!

I'm not mowing yet--but the paths that my chicken tractors took last fall, well they need to be mowed. In my front yard, the path that the dels used is now 7" tall, everything else is bare stubble.

ok folks, need more advise... I just re-arranged the hotel suite. Important to note that the bachelor pad is adjacent to the hotel suite. I put my palm hens in there with the palm tom and they promptly sat with their butts to the fence. It would seem that the palm hens have chosen different mates than I have. What do I do from here?
