I TRIED to get the olive eggers out of the brooder yesterday. I checked on them this evening and one had died. I'm assuming from dehydration. They refuse to leave the coop. I opened the door on the brooder and they mobbed the water. Made me feel bad for the STUPID birds.

I also waged war on all the broodies. Last count I was at 28 hens. I have 5 turkeys that are now able to sit on their OWN eggs without having to fight withva chicken

@holm25 That's terrible about your poults. Some birds are bad mothers their first time. She should have kept them warm. I know how long you've waited for Mr. T babies. You do have more hatching soon, right?

Holm,it's NOT dumb. It's a life lesson in Murphy's Law.

No matter how hard we try,we will still have losses. Such is life.

Thanks JR. I guess I had to learn the hard way. Luckily I have 14 good turkey eggs u set broody and am setting some in the incubator in the morning.

I do have more due soon. I have waited 3 years for babies from Mr. T. I am sad to lose the first ones but sometimes that's how the world works...

JR BBW are like CX. Extremely friendly. It seems like bords used for butchering are a lot more friendly than ones that would get to stay around.
